my first apartment
ah the memories. lanai apartments was a wonderful place to live. i was there between jun '04 and jun '05. this was my first apartment, and i think it was quite a find. i loved it.

the cons:
1) the swimming pool (for lanai apts) was in reconstruction for the longest time. i didn't mind, but my friends who wanted to visit me were anxious.
2) since there isn't air conditioning, a few days in the summer got really hot. i bought a cooler fan to help.
3) sound passes through windows fairly easily. my neighbors were generally quieter than a dorm, but i could still hear some phone conversations of the more vociferous ones.

the pros:
1) the manager, josh, is totally on the ball. he answers all my questions and concerns promptly and professionally.
2) the building and grounds are really nice. it's a very welcoming atmosphere.
3) the price. it's a great deal! when i moved to another city, i realized how much more i got for my money there.
4) the people. it's homely enough for a family, but lively enough for singles. my applause to the person who started the book swap in the laundry room. if you ever stumble across "the silent gondoliers" that was one of my contributions. =D
5) alameda. i use to work in san francisco, but i didn't want to live in the hectic city. the culture on the island is very mellow and friendly. what i miss most are my ferry rides during for my commute. =(
Share This Review
