EV is located in the bustling East Village neighborhood of downtown San Diego. From the beautiful rooftop sky lounge, to the   friendly staff, EV is definitely the place to live.     There is a nightly security patrol officer that remains on the grounds from 7pm to 7am every day of the week which gives you   that extra sense of safety. The complex is conveniently located across the street from The Quartyard, a outdoor music arena   which has nightly food trucks and a bar for a low key night out. There is also a dog park located at The Quartyard, as well as   on the rooftop of the complex so there is always something to do with your furry friend.

When I moved into this apartment 4 years ago, it was a dream. Then management changed and our resident coordinator moved out. Let me start by loving some people up: I love McKenna in the office, Maria the custodian, and Brian and Jessie the maintenance men. Now the reasons for the 2-star review. Since I&apos;ve lived in this building, I&apos;ve experienced: * a group of residents + friends literally tearing my wreath off my door and scattering feathers from it down the hallway (twice). I even wrapped the heck out of it with fishing line and sticky 3M hooks to get it to make it harder for them, and it didn&apos;t make a difference. They still vandalized and stole it * 3 of my packages stolen in the last couple of months - custom clothing made especially for me, clothes for our brand photo shoots and electronics from Amazon. The last time I complained about my package being stolen two weeks ago, no one from the office even responded to me. We are supposed to have locked package lockers, but even with them, I&apos;ve still been robbed three times in 2020 alone. * The woman down the hall smokes. You can smell it coming from her apartment often. * There have been bottles full of cigarette butts in the stairways (I wish I had a photo of that for you as proof, but you can see the other smoking photos as evidence) * Pet messes EVERYWHERE. In the elevators, the lobby, on the roof deck. Even in the dog park where there are LITERALLY FREE BAGS, the residents don&apos;t even clean up after their pets. I&apos;ve seen a few of my neighbors pick up after dogs that weren&apos;t even their own, just because the urine was in the elevator for so long. I&apos;ve seen residents with little dogs let them pee all the way from the elevator to the front door, and then act like nothing happened. Residents take their dogs right out the front door and let them pee on the entrance. There was an entire month there where we had to walk through a wall of flies and gnats just to get into the building, it was so gross. This is a HUGE, NASTY problem, and it&apos;s not even talked about. * People smoke on the roof above my apartment (which is supposed to be closed off, but they go up there anyway.) Every day, I have to put a towel down in my chair or go get a vacuum cleaner and suck up all the ash before I can even use my porch. I&apos;ve complained to management about this. * We&apos;ve had to call 911 on a few neighbors since I moved in - one who kept getting high and falling asleep and filling the hallway with smoke (You can see Chris&apos;s review on that. Firefighters literally had to break down her door. Multiple times that happened, putting us all in danger, before the building did anything.) Another time was a domestic dispute at 5 in the morning. I also filed a police report when my door was vandalized. * Several of my friends have commented on how nasty the building smells and how dirty it is. That&apos;s embarrassing, because we pay a lot in rent to live here. * The front door and garage door often break, requiring maintenance. * I&apos;ve complained to the office about numerous things, and I&apos;ve never seen them so much as send an email or post or do anything about it. But they&apos;ll send an email if it makes THEM look bad (like one of the residents poured something onto the street below and the police were called. That makes the building look bad, so of course, we received an email about it. Someone stole all the COVID-19 hand sanitizer stations (way to go, guys), and we received an email about that. And someone dressed up as a security guard tried to gain access to someone&apos;s apartment. There was a notice about that. But never pet messes, smoking, or stolen packages that affect multiple residents. No announcements, penalties, emails seen. * I emailed to break my lease more than a week ago, and I have yet to receive a phone call back from management. As far as the neighborhood itself goes: skip it. There was a police stand-off with automatic rifles right across from our apartment a few weeks ago. Very scary. I&apos;ve seen plenty of car accidents at this intersection. (My own boyfriend&apos;s car was totaled in a hit and run two blocks from here.) The dude on the sidewalk walking behind me was actually struck by a car that came up onto the sidewalk and pinned him into the Beshock restaurant fence. And then residents came outside and FILMED IT while that guy lay on the ground, unable to move. It&apos;s horrifying to me that people would act like that during a life and death moment. When we were looking at the apartment I live in now, a group of 30-40 high school kids were running around, punching each other, and jumping on cars. (You can ask McKenna, she was there.) I&apos;ve seen homeless people urinate and defecate in the street here. The building&apos;s been graffitied multiple times. I&apos;ve seen the cops tackle and arrest people from my window. There&apos;s always an ambulance or fire truck parked across the street. I&apos;ve attached some photos. I regret that these are only from this past week and that I haven&apos;t been collecting them the entire time. I&apos;ve seen some very, very disgusting things here. It meant something to me to move into this apartment all those years ago. It was so luxurious. The staff was great. We had incredible resident events like yoga and green juice on the roof and Halloween parties and Christmas parties with drinks and live music and foam machines making snow. There was one month I lost my voice for 10 days, and Christina sent me tea and chicken noodle soup. And see just how much it&apos;s gone down hill since then is totally heart-breaking. I can&apos;t even get management to acknowledge me. I feel totally powerless in this situation, and it sucks. Please don&apos;t give them any more money by moving here. There have got to be better managed, cleaner, safer, more reputable buildings available than EV Lofts.

Our building is awesome. It is well insulated so hearing neighbors is nonexistent. We have a dog area on the roof which is extremely convenient and well kept. Our maintenance people do a great job. Anything that has come up has been taken care of with just a few days and the staff really goes out of their way to help you feel welcome. Everyone one I've met has said nothing but good things about their experiences. Everyone ones our roof top dining areas and BBQ setups. Love Griffis East Village.

I love the apartment and my new friends I've met here. The upper level has a dog park like setting where my pet meets all her friends to play with and you can tell she sleeps well at night after a few visits to the 6th floor pet activity center PAC is what we should start calling it when the renovations are completed this summer.

I continue to be impressed by this community.  The speed to fixing any issues, response time to any questions, the cleanliness and quality of the community has been outstanding.  The security and safety I feel in my home has also been impactful.  I'm very happy with the my decision to move to Griffi's!

I have absolutely loved living here. Erik, Larissa and Nate in the office are beyond helpful and have gone above and beyond to ensure that everything has gone smoothly for me since the moment I moved in! The maintenance team, (Bryan, Aaron and Maria) work so hard to take care of the property! I see Maria cleaning every morning on my way to work, and Bryan and Aaron have addressed any maintenance requests of mine within 1 day. I am so happy to call this place my home!
