Good Place in SF
I have lived at Lakewood since 94' and love this place. Like every apartment complex it has its problems, like vandalism of the cars. This I attribute to children/teenagers without parental control. Safety, however, is not too much of an issue. I find this to be generally a very safe neighborhood/complex as a single female. Although, in the last year, there has been an increase in the presense of homeless with cars parked about the lake that use the facilities in the apartments. Management has increased security to address that.
Maintenance is quick to address emergencies, but a little slower for general maintenance issues. I have never experienced problems with bugs, but have heard of some apartments that have them but not a major issue. I haven't had issues with noise. In fact, the cement floors and walls seem to help soften sounds.
Also, these apartments are structurally sound. In the 89' earthquake they sustained little or no damage at all. But being in front of the lake with the ocean to one side can be a chilly. Apartments that face the ocean tend to be drafty, but have an amazing view.
Management of the apartments is good and generally responsive. They have sponsored dinners and brunch on Sundays, blood and food drives, picnics and holiday events for the community. I also do like the upkeep of the apartments. Water has been turned off to install new furnaces, etc. And they are planning to recement the pool.
Public transportation is good. The complex has a bus stop right in front that will connect you with the rest of SF, but expect to take about 45-1hour in to commute downtown. But it has 1 free parking space for apartments, which is rare in SF. Anymore than 1 and parking in the street is first come, first serve, like everywhere else. But the lake offers plenty if you dont mind walking a bit.
Highly recommended.Share This Review
