Resident 2007 - 2010

3 years... Ready for a change

I think this place is not terrible, but it's way too expensive. Although, looking for a new place in the Bay Area has made this place look pretty good. I haven't had many serious problems. I like having my own garage space (at no extra charge). If you go to SFSU it's really easy. I walk there in 25 minutes. You can drive/bus or whatever in under 10 (That is if the 18 shows up but I'm not going to b**ch about the MUNI right now). While there is a lot of noise from the pool during the day, it's nice to HAVE a pool. The pool is clean, the jacuzzi is hot, and there are lounge chairs. I've stayed in hotels with much, much worse. OK they choose the UGLIEST paint colors I have ever seen. What's up with the piss-yellow and barf-green colors? Ew. But thankfully, the interiors of the apartments are white. There does tend to be mold in the apartments, but I think anywhere this close to the ocean with this much fog is going to have a problem. A little bleach in the bathroom and it's perfectly fine. Hello, people, you have to clean your bathrooms, it's not going to have a magical-cleaning-laser that automatically removes dirt and mold. This is not Finding Nemo... I like the view from my apartment. Whenever I have friends over they can't get over how pretty it is out on the lake, looking out at the poor suckers in the Villas at Park Merced, which BTW are waaaaay worse and charge at least 500 more per month for the same floor plans as Lakewood. I wish they allowed pets. I know pets are messy and what not, but if owners are responsible, as they SHOULD be, it would make me happy. That's part of the reason I am trying to find a new place. My boyfriend has been living with me now for two years, and we're ready to get a pet and a bit bigger place. It's really unfortunate that so many complexes in the Bay Area are so shady. I think if you are a young person, a student, or retired Lakewood is a very nice area to live. It's too small for families, really, but they do have a playground. BTW there's a lot of street parking for San Francisco. My car is in the garage and my boyfriend parks on the street. There's no 2-hr limit, like most of the Sunset area and SF, and street cleaning only once a week. DEFINITELY A PLUS. Management staff will be rude, though. Apparently the FedEx guy will sign out packages to the office, and they're willing to just give you the thing without signing out or checking your name or anything. But what do you expect in this town?
