Gets the job done

Let's start with the good: the complex itself has a lot of awesome features. You're right on Lake Merced, which is a beautiful place when the weather's decent. You're also less than a mile from Fort Funston, which is a great beach on the ocean, and dog-friendly. There's also a pool, a hot tub, a billiards table, reserved parking garage, plenty of laundry machines, and (I think) a tennis court. In addition, the rent is pretty reasonable compared to other things in the area. I personally took advantage of the hot tub a lot; I even made several friends there, and continue to keep in contact with them. Now for the bad: this complex is not close to anything besides the aforementioned places. The only line that runs nearby is the 18, which will really only take you to Stonestown to take a REAL bus/train. It's reasonably close to Daly City BART, but it's a long, uphill bike ride. Also, the leasing office seems to have a problem with accepting packages at times (I've never had nearly as many problems receiving shipments as I did at this place). I couldn't figure out any rhyme or reason to what they'd accept and what they wouldn't, but I eventually started shipping everthing to my work address. Also, the units aren't nearly as nice as the leasing office and outside of the buildings would lead you to believe; make sure they show you an actual unit, not a demo one. At the end of the day, the units are OK, but the place feels like a dorm a lot of the time (not surprising considering the proximity to SFSU and the shared hallways). The last thing is the shooting range across the street. Personally, it never bothered me (it's not like they're out there at 6 AM), but your mileage may vary. If you're like me and not really home during the day (or not picky about noise during that time), you should be fine. At the end of the day, I would say living here gets the job done. I would recommend it as long as you're not planning to do any of the following: take public transit around SF, receive lots of packages by mail (especially pricey ones), have local shops and culture within walking distance.
