Lakewood Apartments must have improved recently because the older reviews do not reflect my experience living here. I have found the apartment complex clean, comfortable and quiet with rarely any problems with pests or utilities. I have it better than most for noise because I'm on the top floor facing away from the gun range. When my refrigerator stopped working, it was replaced quickly at no cost. It is somewhat remote, between the lake and a golf course, so most people will want to have a car. There is one bus that comes by every 20 minutes, usually, that goes to the BART, so living without is doable, but inconvenient. My studio is a decent size, but too much floor space is taken up by closets, and the kitchen is quite small. It can be difficult to have packages delivered. Everyone has signs on their door asking for packages to be taken to the leasing office, but the delivery folks ignore them. Some packages are just left out in the lobby, some aren't delivered at all. The leasing office will hold packages if they aren't too large and the demand isn't too high. The fitness center is passable. Most everything works usually. It's fine for cardio, but the strength training equipment isn't comprehensive enough for a well-rounded workout. It doesn't really substitute for a gym. Rent and utilities are expensive, but not more so than anyplace else I've seen. So, overall, not bad, but not great. It's fine.
