Things just got worse!
Our air conditioner quit working over Labor Day Weekend. The temperature was in the mid 80s and is supposed to remain there until September 20th or so. I wrote a letter to management telling them the AC is not working nor is the shower working as it should. 2 days later they send a maintenance guy to take a look. He fixed the shower but said the A/C needed to be recharged with freon. He said that the manager won't purchase any freon. My wife told the maintenance guy that we have gone 4 days and nights without A/C. He told her that there are several apartments in the complex that haven't had working A/C all summer!! I call the manager and she tells me an air conditioning company will be here the next day. The guy gets here and says, "Whoever wired this A/C unit didn't know what they were doing." He then proceeded to rewire it. After 3 hours of trying everything to get it to work he says the entire unit needs to be replaced. I'm going to call the manager in the morning to find out when a new A/C unit will be installed. I have this sick feeling that my wife and I are going to spend the rest of this summer with no air conditioning. Management doesn't care. There should be a law passed requiring a rental community to fix problems with A/C, heat, water, hot water within 24 hours. For every 24 hours a tenant has to live without one of these necessities, 10% of the rent should be reduced for that month. That way, the EXTREMELY wealthy companies that own these apartment communities will open their wallets and fix stuff immediately and fix it right the first time! Imagine a law that tells apartment complexes if they don't fix your stuff within 10 days, you pay no rent that month!Share This Review
