HURRICANE PROOF AND A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE!
The DeSota has survived Hurricane Milton intact and in style with no loss of power, only minor cosmetic damage and an atmosphere of calm and security thanks to the new manager, Rebecca and her team! The location has always been ideal, within walking distance to everything downtown, the pool is beautiful, the gym is great and the storage/closet space in the genrously sized apartments is the best in town. After a few bumps in the transition to ownership with a few temporary management teams, we now have a wonderful manager who has made all the difference, is on top of everything and does it all with a smile. This is a great place to live!

New management is the worse
Worse management ever. Rents are increasing by 20% to 40%. Utilities bill increased without notice. Bldg is filthy and the onsite management doesn't solve maintenance issues. stay away from this bldg.

$4,000+ for a 2/2 - !? - And bad management on top of that.
BEWARE: With 20% to 40% rent increases EVERY YEAR nobody can afford to stay here for long, making it feel like a transient hotel. No one respects the building (dog pee everywhere) or fellow residents (surly newcomers who won't acknowledge your presence in the elevator). Three years ago, under different management, it was much better. The new owners do not care that it is people's lives they are messing with, forcing people to move out of their homes, some of whom had been good paying tenants for years (we paid on time, every month for over three years and never caused a peep of trouble). And when you do move out (which is dreadfully difficult, as they do not have a service elevator), the new owners, Two Coast Living/JRK Holdings in California, do not return your security deposit despite multiple written requests and a glowing report at our move-out inspection ("sparkling clean") -- 48 days now and counting (Florida law gives them 15 days). Off to see a lawyer next. Oh, and don't fall for the glitzy-looking renovations. It's all superficial. The "lovely" trim around the apartment doors all fell off within 24 hours! 90 page lease, your payment will be higher than your rent
Rent extremely high, very poor maintenance! They don't tell you but you pay their common area water and electric plus a monthly amenities charge plus fees plus your own utilities! They give you a breakdown after you pay! They hide all this in a very long lease they offer you until hours before moving when its too late! BEAUTIFUL BUILDING BUT ....

Do not recommend. Terrible experience
Can not recommend. Unprofessional management not responsive to tenants needs. Multiple emails, calls do not correct issues. Not worth the price - spend your money on a better facility with competent staff.

Great all around, management, cleanliness, a really good team effort. I love the convenience of downtown Sarasota , everything walkable. Whole Foods just a few steps away and the Selby library, wouldn't want to live anywhere else

The Desota makes city living a breeze. Located steps from Whole Foods and walking distance from restaurants, parks and movies. The building is constructed in such a way to almost totally block inside and outside noise. The only noise is the occasional firing up of a motorcycle as it leaves the garage. Daily maintenance of building,elevator and fitness center also outstanding. Have ZERO complaints.

Very pet friendly building, excellent and attentive management and maintenance team. Place is always clean and looking great. Excellent location and gym. Extremely satisfied with everything, rent is a tad high but not overly unusual for this market.

I love everything about this community, the location right in the middle of downtown with a quality supermarket as a neighbor, the cleanliness, the quality of the staff, the fitness, the commun area. The Hub is also very convenient.

Nice place to live Very good customer service and management ! Very clean. Building is strategically located to access the best Sarasota offers. The quality of apartments as far as construction and design is ok but better than the other rental buildings I gave busted here . for the price you pay you expect definitely much better quality and design. The apartments do not have exhausting system so cooking is a real challenge .. the apartments are designed for people that plan to stay for a short period eat outside

The building is well maintained and very friendly management. They are ontop of all issues that may arise immediately and that makes it a pleasure to live here. The location is killer! Also, it is the nicest apartment building in downtown Sarasota.

The maintenance guys, Ted and George, are excellent! They come quickly and can fix problems very quickly. They deserve the highest rating!! The problem is with the appliances. The dishwasher and garbage disposal are of very poor quality. That is very disappointing and frustrating.

I did not enjoy the multi floors and the reason I did not move in the Arcos was due to spine surgery in September of the prior year and made it difficult for me to cross Fruitville Road in a safe manner.

I love living at the Desota. Great location with friendly neighbors and staff. There's no place I'd rather be. As far as downtown Sarasota apartment living, The Desota is definitely the best choice. It feels more like condo living than the others.

It is a great building and centrally locatd to CBD. Apartment is lovely and bright with transom windows and floor to ceilig doors and windows. Finishes are contemporary and closet is very large for a one bedroom apartment.
