I've lived at the Gables for about three months, though I did a lot of investigating after reading negative reviews, and my experience has been very positive. I've found the two managers (new, I think) helpful, courteous and above all professionally competent. They know how to run a large rental complex. Parking is not an issue now; as the manager said to me, "We don't threaten or forgive, we just tow." I've made it a point to look around when parking is full and I've never found a time when there were not 4-5 free spaces. I've had one experience with maintenance: a hinge on the washer/dryer door became loose. I reported it to a manager about 9AM, went out, returned about 11 AM to find the hinge repaired and a note asking me to be sure the repair was OK. It was. My apartment is on a busy corner but the impact windows mean it is absolutely quiet inside (I occasionally hear the guy upstairs move a chair). The appliances are upper middle level, are quiet and efficient---except for the dishwasher which must be entry level and thrashes away. Location could not be better, landscaping looks professional, swimming pool has been redecorated and very nice (could be a little warmer for me, but I'm 88). I've lived in too many places since moving to Florida twenty years ago (about eight in all) and the Gables is, by far, the best of the lot. I'm very glad I made the move here. Marc
