Overall, I like Champions Green. There are pros and cons just like there are with any complex.
Pros: Rent is affordable considering the area and amenities. The grounds are really nice. There's plenty of green space for taking a walk. The units tend to be very spacious and have nice layouts. The Preakness side feels very safe. I've never felt scared walking to my apartment having come home late at night.
Cons: I read a review about geese feces being everywhere. This is a valid complaint but it's also not something management can really control. There are several small ponds and creeks in the complex and the geese come every year. Also, some of the units are outdated. The windows are old and drafty and tend to cultivate their own little mold ecosystems. It's gross but the rent is cheap so it is what it is. My biggest complaint is the parking situation. Some buildings don't have enough parking so if you work a late shift, you may have to park up to a 1/4 mile away and walk. This only affects a few buildings but it's a snowball effect. Parking for those buildings start bleeding over into your parking spots so you have to park further away in front of someone else's building. They instituted an optional paid parking spot system but it doesn't seem to help.
Mixed: Pro - This is a very family-friendly neighborhood. Con - Parents let their kids run wild here. I've had to ask kids multiple times to get out the road. My car has been hit with countless soccer balls and once I almost accidentally hit a kid who jumped out in front of my car as a "joke".
Overall, this is a pretty good complex. The location is great, especially for the cost, the units themselves are pretty solid, and it's safe.
