Resident 2006 - 2008

12/22/2008

Rude and arrogant staff, dated, poor upkeep and construction. A living hell!!

I have lived at Post Gardens for almost 2 years, and thankfully my lease is up in March. The first year I was there, it was great. Nice office staff, the grounds were always maintained, and it was fairly quiet. I never had an issue with anything. All this has changed in the last year. There are several reasons behind this, and the worst is the staff. It's living hell. First off, when it was time to renew my lease, they wanted to raise my rent 120 bucks a month. I have lived in other Post Properties, and 40 was usually the max my rent would be raised a month. They finally agreed to only raise it 50 a month after pulling teeth. I was also promised a GC for the Buckhead Life Res Group for renewing, which I never recieved. This brings us to the rude, catty, arrogant women who work here. They think they are better than you at all times and talk to you like a 4 year old. I just want to tell them that if they don't like a profession dealing with the public then find a different career. In my profession all I do is work with people and I would never talk to my clients the way they do. It is very unprofessional and they clearly are not trained in how to handle conflicting situations. The staff has been rude for the past year I have been there, but the last few months have been the worst. I am currently in a situation where my new neighbor below complains about everything I do during normal hours. He says I walk to hard, I shut the door and cabinets too hard, and he even complains about how I talk. I have lived in apartments for 7 years and have NEVER had anyone complain about me. The guy who lived below me for the year and a half before the current resident never complained about anything I did. I do not play loud music, and do not throw parties. He is simply complaining about how I live in my apartment. The property manager has made this a huge inconvenience to me. I also recently found out she knows the neighbor from a previous apartment so clearly she is biast. This has been going on for over 3 months and nothing has been resolved except me being inconvenienced. I have had to pack breakables on my shelves, clear everything off my floor, and move out of my apartment for 2 days to have my carpet and flooring ripped up and repadded for this neighbor. They also had to remove the toilet and replace it, which has also been another nightmare because when it was put back, it has not been working the same. I either have to use a plunger everytime I use it, or it constantly runs or overflows which makes my water bill astronomical. It seems that even thought I have been in my apartment for almost 2 years with no complaints, maybe they should have moved him to a top floor instead of making me feel like I have to walk on eggshells in my own home. They have also had to come in and put pads under my bed becasue apparently it makes a noise he can hear, which is bazar becasue I certainly don't hear anything out of the ordinary. Personally this person either does not need to live in an apartment or either needs to live on the top floor. Well, the property manager is making me feel this is my problem, while I am doing nothing wrong but living as a normal person in my own home. I do understand you should be considerate of your neighbors which I have always been, but when I am simply doing routine, everyday activities in my home I feel it should not be an issue. I sat on my bed to put my shoe on this morning and I heard a knock on my ceiling from the neighbor below. I mean wow, now I can't even sit on my bed to put a shoe on without drama!! I can hear my above neighbor doing all the same things above me, but realize it is an apartment, and honestly these are the worst insulated apartments I have ever lived in, but it is a given you will hear people doing everyday things. It seems that after someone complains for 3 months everyday, the easiest thing to do would move them or let me out of my lease 2 months early. Of course that would never happen, because they would lose out money even if it saves a tentant who would have renewed their lease. Instead they are pissing off a resident who has been a good tenant for 2 years. The thing is, I referred 3 people to this complex a year ago. I know a lot of people in the Atlanta area who live in apartments, and you can gaurantee I will never recommend Post Gardens. Not even to my worst enemy. Everyone I know at Post Gardens has had a terrible experience dealing with the staff among other things. These women are enough to make you slit your wrist. Obviously we can see my view on the staff, so on to the next. The complex may look new and nice on the outside, but the inside is dated and they refuse to replace anything in your apartment even if it's broken. They try to fix it, and then it breaks again, and then they fix and it breaks again, and so on. I've just given up. The dishwashers do nothing but make your dishes dirtier, even when you scrub them before loading, the faucets leak and actually have ruined things under my sink, and now it has mildew growing underneath. My air/heat is broken on a regular basis, like now. They act like it is a huge inconvenience to them to have the maintenance people come. I have already mentioned that the construction of the place is terrible meaning the walls are paper thin, and the windows are as well. It's like you feel a draft of cold air coming in at all times. If you need to use the business office with internet, a fax, and a copier, expect nothing will work. The internet is always down, even when you have called multiple times about it for a week, the copier never works and you have to use a calling card for the fax machine that also never works. The work out center is a joke. The treadmills sound like they are about to explode and I don't think they have been properly oiled or cleaned in 10 years. The landscaping used to be gorgeous. The fountains were always on and everything was always kept up nicely. Not anymore. Next. There are tons of younger people living there, which is fine. I am in my late twenties and like to have fun, but I don't run through an apartment complex that echos at 4 in the morning screaming my brains out. This happens every Friday and Saturday night. When I want to stay in and get sleep on a weekend, I always expect to be woken up by some drunk idiot at 4 am. These are things I feel should be a noise complaint, not someone cooking or getting ready for work in their apartment at reasonable hours. But is anything ever done about the screaming at 4 am? NO. Now the parking garage. People do not drive the 5 mile speed limit. They whip around corners and there is no room for error with how tight these corners are. I drive a brand new Lexus and I have already gotten several dings from people opening their doors into mine, and I even had someone put a beer bottle under my tire. The lights are always burnt out in the garage so it feels like you are walking in some creepy garage on the southside, not to mention there have been several break ins. The last thing I will say about this is the mail boxes in the garages. I recently had mail stolen out of my box which was not closed for some odd reason. The conclusion to this incident resulting in my identity to be stolen which has been a terrible experience. Also, the mailman would always put opened mail that had been retaped in my mailbox. I now have a PO Box address so this will not happen here again. Stay away from Post Gardens. It looks very nice on the outside but it is a total living hell to actually be a resident here. I am really nervous to move out becasue of all the horrible things I have heard, such as the charges they threaten you with. Trust me, I have been looking into several apartments that are much nicer, and comparable to the same price as PG. I am counting down the days until my move out date so I never have to deal with these horrible people again.
