Resident 2005 - 2007

3/23/2007

I can't wait to move!!

When we moved in this place was great! We were very excited to learn that we would be on the first floor since it looked really sparce. When we took our two small children (under the age of 2 at that time), into the office to sign the lease they informed us that all the first floor apts were gone. BUT we could still have a 2nd floor. I was okay with that that only meant one flight of stairs with the two kids that both had to be carried. In a matter of 20 minutes, they said the very last 2nd floor plan was taken, and we would have to be on the top floor. So I now had to carry both kids (most of the time by myself) up three flights of stairs. Imagine how mad I was when we moved in and the two apts directly below us were empty. The 2nd floor tenants didn't moved in until a month later, and the bottom floor didn't get rented until we had been there for 4 or 5 months. This was our first apartment experience and they knew that-AND TOOK ADVANTAGE! We have been here for almost 2 years and have not had an exterminator yet (even though they have left notes that they would be coming the next day-but never did). The trash compactor never works, the gates never work. The security guard gets calle din every now and then to appease the tenants, but spends most of his time talking with the tenants that are breaking the rules he is paid to enforce. My smoke alarms go off if I cook any type of bread and have to have the oven up to 400. The one for the kitchen is right in front of the oven and has a heat sensor in it. So even if you are not burning anything, it goes off. The kids pull the smoke alarms all the time and instead of actually pressing charges like they say, they just litter the grounds with more idle threats. When I call to get something fixed, it takes anywhere from 5 hours to two days. And then it's only half way fixed-my smoke alarms are still not fixed...I can't wait to move out!! AND they charged me $1000 deposit which they now say was a "bond" that there is no way to get back! The maintenace people are very nice, and try to fix the problems. It's just that if they don't have the training needed how can we expect them to do it correctly?<br>One last thought...I referred a friend (only because she is a single mother and they base rent on income) and they said that we would get either 200 or 350 for referring someone (sometimes they run specials, and I'm not sure if that was when it was). Everytime that we go in and ask about our referral check that we should have gotten at least 6 months ago, they say that she has to fill out a paper. She has already gotten her "move in reward" (that she had to fill out the same piece of paper for), but somehow she didn't fill it out? She has even went to the office and asked about it for us. DON'T MOVE HERE UNLESS YOU ENJOY GIVING AWAY MONEY!!
