Verified Resident 2011 - 2013

This is my third year...

This is my third year living at Watergate. My rent has increased by almost $300 in that time period. Maintenance responds in a timely manner however there always seems to be something going wrong and the problems seem to be "quick fixed" so they happen over and over. The maitenance people are super nice but unfortunately I can't say the same for the people working in the leasing office. When you need or ask for something the common attitude is that you're bothering them. THe apartment complex seems to care more about getting new people to move in than they do taking care of current residents. This might be why they always need people to move in. I'm in the process of purchasing a home or I would have already moved. THe location is amazing but aside from that there few other pros.

    Resident 2010 - 2012

    Terrible except the location!!!

I am currently still living here but am not happy with my experience. When I moved in I said I was staying until I bought a place but I don't know how much longer I can stick it out. Like others said the electric bills are very high but I have never had one that is $300. Mine have been about $200 in the winter. My first apt. flooded with sewage from the upstairs bathroom. I had no bathroom for about 5 days. The management here told me to walk down to the clubhouse and use the one next to the gym. They refused to even move me to a different unit until I contacted Bernstein mgmt. I have no been in my second apartment and unbelievable the same problem occurred. They did come out and fix it but it's just a hassle and it seems like there is always something going wrong. The buildings are old so there are constantly problems. I have found that the big things will eventually get fixed but the smaller things you can forget about. My storage unit also flooded and everything was ruined. They would not take responsibility for any damages or replace anything. There is mold growing in the laundry/storage area. When I asked about it I was told it was acceptable since it is not black mold. For example, the french doors to my den will not close an have never had hinges. I requested this 6 months ago and have made several requests since but all I get are maintenance telling me they are coming but they never show up. The people who work in the rental office definitely need a few courses on how to be personable and pleasant. That seems to end after you sign the lease. I know I've mentioned a lot of negatives but want to be fair and share the positives. The location is AMAZING. You can walk downtown, to shops, bars, and restaurants. You are right on the water and have great views and beautiful scenery. There is a nice pool in the summer and the gym is great and well kept. There are a few positives here but most of the time I feel like I'm living in section 8 housing just with decent neighbors. Weigh your options but I would think annapolis has much better options for the money.
