Resident 2014 - 2015

1/11/2015

I will say that it is a very nice place. We stay in a three bedroom and there is A LOT of space for the family, definitely more than we expected the first time we saw the apartment. When we moved in, we realized just how much space there was. I do have a few problems with the way our move in was arranged. First, we were lied to during this whole process. We spoke to one of their employees when we were looking for an apartment and they informed us that there was a three-bedroom apartment available. We were informed that the apartment would cover the gas and electricity, there was garage parking, and when we were showed the apartment we were told that there was a storage room outside of the apartment. It was not until the day we were about to move in, hours before our move in time that we were told that they would not cover heat and electricity. We were given a move in time of 12:30pm so we were packed and prepared to move in but could not. It completely ruined our plans and was a massive inconvenience. It was mostly infuriating because we had to call to reopen accounts for the gas and electricity as they would not allow us to move in until it was done. We were forced to scramble to get this like this done knowing we had nowhere else to stay, it made the transition ridiculous. To add on to this, the gas would not be turned on until the next day. To accommodate, because the apartment turned off the heat, they gave us a Holmes Compact Ceramic Heater which I found interesting that such a small heater was supposed to warm up a three bedroom apartment. Plus the rugs were not dried when we moved in, really my family was lucky that we had personal heaters when we were moving in or it would have been an uncomfortable night for us all. And then we found out that there is no storage, it was no big deal but what a strange thing to lie about. Plus, there is only one person allowed to park in the garage for free. The other residents are required to pay a 75 dollar fee a month to park in the space. What's the point of having parking spaces if you have to pay for it on top of paying rent? I don't get it. There is street parking available but this is the first time seeing an apartment that doesn't offer actual parking spaces for free. How is this supposed to work out when you have guests exactly? I still do not understand the idea behind this, having a garage is amazing, especially in the winter time but it is mind blowing that only one person is allowed to park for free. How do you open up a three bedroom apartment for family but tell them that only one person living there gets a parking space? All of this being said, I would not have minded if I was told up front about all of the extra fees, and I do believe that the management mishandled this situation completely and gave us ridiculous accommodations. Like I said at the beginning of the review, the apartment is very nice, the space is lovely, just be sure that you are not misled on what you are receiving if you consider moving in here.
