Best Staff Ever
Everyone from the concierges to the leasing staff to the property manager to the maintenance and cleaning crew to the mailwoman have been nothing but great to me since I toured the apartment almost a year ago. Since I moved in, they've made sure I've gotten what i needed and even checked in on me after my surgery and when I was in hospital. They've made living here the best place experience out of all the places I've lived at before.

Front Desk Concierge
Reggie works evenings and is always a pleasure. He goes above and beyond to assist where he can and is very kind to anyone who stops by the desk, whether it is to pick up a package, inquire about an apartment matter, or just to say hi.

Just want to give a big thanks to Bob for all his assistance to my mother who lives with me. She is older and has some vision issues. Bob has always offered assistance with getting her packages and retrieval of items from package machine. He always has a kind word and I really appreciate that.

Maintenance And Management
I been here for two years and I had some good days here and some bad days. I have appreciated the staff in helping me in all areas that I had needed help with concerning this unit 444. I would like to let you all know that you have a wonderful staff here from the concierge to the property manager to the clean up crew. And I thank them very much

Worst service
The glowing reviews are misleading. Absolutely the worst experience I’ve ever had with a leasing office. What should’ve been a simple leasing process turned into weeks of being completely ignored and disrespected. No updates, no responses to emails or calls, and zero accountability from anyone on the team. It’s beyond unprofessional, it’s negligent. I was genuinely excited to join this community, but the way I was treated made me feel like It didn’t matter at all. This leasing team is either disorganized, or simply doesn’t care. I’ve filed a formal complaint, and I would strongly urge others to think twice before wasting their time and energy here. No one deserves to be treated like this. They think they own this apartment complex and they have right to decide who to live there.

office staff is Not friendly at all…
They need to hire people to work in the office. The one person that works in the office is over worked and it slows down the processing time to get applicants approved or denied. And because Bob is over worked your experience as an applicant is unpleasant. If you need a quick and smooth application process the Citron is not it. It takes 4 -5 days to just get a email saying thank you for applying such and such will be your leasing agent. And if it’s Bob run for the hills….If you love these apts I recommend applying 2 months in advance…

What a wonderful Place to live
The Citron Apartments are truly an incredible place to call home! From the beautifully maintained grounds to the modern and thoughtfully designed living spaces, every detail makes living here a joy. The staff takes it to the next level—they’re not just helpful, they’re genuinely caring and always go above and beyond to make sure residents feel valued and supported. Whether it’s answering questions, resolving issues, or just offering a friendly smile, their dedication is unmatched. The sense of community here is amazing, and it’s clear the team works hard to create a welcoming and comfortable environment. Highly recommend The Citron Apartments to anyone looking for a place that feels like home with an A+ staff to back it up!

Great staff, beautiful interior, safe building
My family appreciates the attention to detail and pleasant staff of The Citron. We've had enjoyed living here more than all the apartments in the DMV area. We feel especially secure with all the locks on the building and safe delivery of all our important packages.

Very fast response
My AC unit went out on a usually warm day last week. At first I thought it was a pepco issue. However the issue was within my apartment. I placed a work order at 7am. At 9am Jorge was knocking on my door, he quickly diagnosed the issue was the fan. Within 39 minutes he took out the old fan, replaced it with a new one and tested it for surety. Always fast and efficient service.

Secluded Downtown Living
The Citron was one of many complexes I toured in Silver Spring before making the decision to move in about 2 months ago. From my first visit, I felt a sense of community and friendliness from both the building staff and the other residents. I now know several staff and other residents by name (or at least their dogs names). The building is conveniently located near downtown, but is also right next to a residential neighborhood that gives it a secluded feel. The complex is very pet (especially dog) friendly and there is a dog park just a few minutes walk down Ellsworth. I was worried about it being noisy, but have been pleasantly surprised how quiet it is inside despite the noise level outside. There may be some cheaper options out there but I think for my studio, the location and atmosphere is well worth the price.

The Citron has great location and access to downtown Silver Spring. My apartment has a great layout and is spacious. I really like the hardwood floors and new appliances. The apartments look upscale however you can see they are cheaply made and constructed. I luckily haven't dealt with any noise issues and have quiet neighbors. Most of staff is pleasant however some staff is rude and unfriendly. In one instance, an attendant during business hours was on a personal call and upon entry shushed me. In my experience it takes maintenance 2 weeks + for issues to get resolved. In contrast to my previous complex where it took only a day or two. If the Citron were to improve their response time and improve upkeep of building I would reconsider my review. For now the location and overall apartment amenities appease me but I suggest residents look at other luxury apartments in area for possible better value and management.

You may want to read this!! Long but an honest review! Let me start off by saying that I have lived in the same studio apartment at Citron since June 2017. I thoroughly enjoyed the years here leading up to June 2020. The property looks just like the photos and the location in Downtown Silver Spring is pretty perfect. However, let's skip the first incident that happened in June and fast forward to October when all hell broke loose in my apartment. MICE, MICE and more MICE. An apartment next to mine had been vacate for sometime I believe. Last month new neighbors moved in with cats and then literally the next evening a mouse ran across my floor. I thought I was seeing things because outside of one incident when I seen a mouse on the first floor (back in 2017), I had never seen not one mouse in my apartment. Since I have a puppy, a few months back I bought a camera and used that to prove what I saw. Little did I know I would not only capture one mouse, but at least 8 different mice on camera over the course of 4 weeks. You ask how do I know the exact number? Because traps were set up (and still are) in my kitchen outside of my appliances and every time a mouse was caught I could see it and hear it squeaking because they were still alive but stuck. I believe in less than a week 5 were removed from my apartment. Last mouse was just removed on November 18, 2020 and was trapped under my refrigerator for 8 hours until maintenance could come. I even had a mouse climb up my oven and on to the stove top and my bananas. Yes, that really happened and was also videotaped. I am attaching screenshots of videos/photos from over the last month or so. I asked Citron to move me to another unit or let me out of my lease once I found new housing, but they would only give me a 30 day notice. I signed off on the 30 days and paid my entire months rent because they said that's the best they could do and that they would up the extermination since everything they tried so far hasn't worked. Yes, exterminators have come weekly but I don't think they have done anything more intensive to fix the issue. As I'm writing this I can literally hear a mouse banging around under my refrigerator. My work has been affected, I don't sleep for more than 2 hours at a time - most times I wake up due to the noises and then just stay up until daylight when the mice stop running around. If they can treat me like this, there is no doubt they will do the same to you if you're the unlucky person who receives my apartment, which I am moving out of in just a few days. If it wasn't for financial reasons I would have left weeks ago. I was accused of spreading rumors of mice by the APM, Valeria. I guess now she is right! I was told by the PM, Carmen no one else have mice, as if that would make me feel any better. It actually made me feel like I was less than and that I didn't have the right to complain or be concerned about myself and my dog's well being. There is so much to unpack from this last month, but I will stop here.

I toured the Citron back in January 2019 and signed a lease to start in February 2019. Parking is a huge issue here - if you have a car you don't want to live here. When I signed the lease, the leasing agent told me that I would have to wait up to three months for space in their garage. The price quoted was $145 dollars. I wasn't thrilled but I liked the apartment so I agreed. About a month after moving in, I asked where I was on the waiting list and all of a sudden its a brand new story. The property manager said it would take 6 months or longer before I get space. I was furious. I asked for a concession since I was lied to by the leasing agent, but they wouldn't budge. They acknowledged that the leasing agent lied to me but still didn't do anything. Fast forward to September (7 months later), and I get notified they have a space for me, but the price has increased to $200! They refused to give me the original price quoted when I moved in. Very dishonest practices. Also of note in the building are the roaches (just look in the stairwells for the dead bugs). I also booked the club room for a night, paying $500 to do so. On the evening of the event, they had no record of my reservation! Good thing I forced them to make a copy of the contract I signed. This place could benefit from a management overhaul and more transparency from their staff.

The unit walls are so thin. You can hear your neighbor's TV and sound system. Please REINFORCE the noise control! There shouldn't be any more loud music of TV after 9pm!! It is not fair on other residents trying to get some rest!

I loved living in the Citron for 2 years!!! If it weren't for me buying a home, I would have stayed there. It was such a wonderful experience and the building can not be compared to anywhere else! In addition to the modern, beautiful aesthetics on the inside and outside, the proximity to downtown is unbeatable! The staff members especially Akeem, Jennifer, Jeffrey, Aida, Manny, Douglas, and Edwin are extremely helpful and the level of customer service is top notch!

The staff is wonderful and handle any questions, issues in a professional timely manner. I enjoy returning home after a long day from work to be welcome to a wonderful concierge! Thanks Jennifer.

I recently renewed my lease for the second year. I have been very satisfied with the building and overall experience of living here. I didn't know the area when I moved here from NC and I looked at many of the apartments in the area. I was sold on Citron due to the amenities and location and I still am. I recommend the building for anyone looking for a hassle free place to live. Being in downtown Silver Spring is wonderful, I appreciate being able to walk to grocery and the tons of ethnic restaurants. The one maintenance issue I had recently with my ac (on a 90* day) was taken care of the same day, I was so thankful. There are definitely many places to live around here but I like my apartment and have made a number of great friends here.

Started great â?? now is managed by the B Team. We moved in in summer 2013 and this apartment was great. The management was good and friendly, maintenance was helpful, and they were doing many resident appreciation events. Within the past few months, FouglerPratt (who can seem to build a parking structure as the silver spring transit center in under a decade) decided to move the good managers to other newer buildings in their portfolio. They replaced them with some mean underachievers. It makes sense; our apartment floor was so bowed that if you sat in a rolling chair youâ??d roll towards the center of the room â?? in a BRAND NEW building! There are never any building sponsored events, maintenance requests are now rarely answered, and they never respond to any questions or requests from residents. The concierge hours have decreased, pool hours have decreased, and general repair of the building is going downhill. Also watch out with your deposit theyâ??ll try to charge you for anything! They came into ours to make some bogus â??repairsâ?? without our permission days before our lease was up and gave us a bill. Even the maintenance guy apologized because the property managers didnâ??t tell them that the place was occupied. Building is in a great location, but dealing with the terrible management that FouglerPratt has installed is not worth the effort â?? look somewhere else, lots of new buildings in town.

I am incredibly fortunate to have found this apartment. I live alone and feel perfectly safe; I have access to downtown easily, but you'd never know it from inside! The complex is quiet and has a nice suburban neighborhood feel to it. The amenities are fantastic - the pool, the outdoor courtyards and grills, the full size washer and dryer, all great. There are awesome opportunities to meet your residents and be social (book club, holiday potlucks, football watching games), and there are also great nooks to hang out and relax if you'd rather some time to yourself. The maintenance and leasing office staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. They have nighttime concierge services and security cameras on site, and I've never had any question unanswered above and beyond any expectations. The apartments are well insulated, too. I only hear my neighbors if they're standing out in the hallway right by my door. My direct neighbors have two dogs, and I haven't heard one bark from them! I can't say enough good things about the company, the staff, the residents, and the facility itself. This is absolutely the best apartment complex I have ever lived in!!

I don't know what made the user who posted on 7-1-14 so mad. What he said is completely false. Yes, there was one or two days where the courtyard got to be really loud at a very late hour. But management sent out an email and it has not happened again. The Citron being dog friendly is awesome! If I were to rate the APT just on overal price, i'd say its a bit high. But I knew the price before moving in so how can I give them a bad rating for that? Mainly, If you'd like to live in a fun, safe and friendly apt, the citron is the place to be.
