The service here is terrible. Maintenance requests go weeks without being answers, packages are left out and stolen, carpets are filthy, lights in public areas are burnt out, the staff turns over constantly, and as I'm writing this, the hot water has been out all day. Basically, nobody cares. This place tries to seem like a luxury building, and certainly charges as much, but they cut corners wherever possible. This is really disappointing. Do not live here.

I moved in during 2019 - the space is beautiful and the apartments are not as expensive as others nearby. This is a good value mid-tier priced option. However, the management has been really really sub-par. The only person who has made me feel heard and supported in the last month or so is Tiffany - someone who is new to the building. She is an excellent leasing agent and puts the resident first. This is the magic touch that was missing before and I'm so glad she has finally made this feel more like a home. With her here, I would recommend new renters to consider living here.

I have lived in these apartments for over two years and for most of that I was very happy. They have recently lost nearly all of their employees due to new management. Now I can see why. Their management treats their residents like crap so I can only assume they treat their employees the same. The cable was turned off for months because they couldn't pay the bill, most of the furniture in the club room is broken, the exercise equipment is severely outdated, the hallways are always dirty with trash and even puke that will be there for days. I have heard the management make disparaging comments about ethnic people, single mothers and the reason that they don't keep up the property (they've already signed the lease so why try to make the place better.) I can't wait till my lease is up and I can get away from these horrible people whom have inflicted stress and emotional turmoil on me for the last few months.

Quiet apartment, close to everything. Walkable. Great downtown location. Steve Roth is extremely helpful and goes out of his way to help new residents. His knowledge and expertise is greatly appreciated!

My husband and I moved to Mill District City Apartments in the spring of 2013 after living in the St. Louis Park for a few years. We wanted to be exposed a bit more to city life and the convenience of living downtown. We could not have been happier with our decision to live at MDCA and moved only because we bought a place a few blocks away. The property manager, Steve, is a wonderful asset to this complex and was always pleasant and professional to work with. Lastly, we really enjoyed living in such a pet friendly community and it was great that our dog was able to make many new "friends" in the neighborhood.

MDCA is a great place to live, with access to the Light Rail only three blocks away and the Mississippi river only two blocks away you are only moments from the heart of Minneapolis. The amenities are good and the leasing staff is very kind, I will note that they have two GREAT maintenance persons who do a wonderful job. If you are relocation to the area this is a great place to meet new people, this is easier if you have a dog as the building is a dog friendly place.

Nice Apartments, but Shadowy Happy Hours
First of all, I think MDCA is a fine apartment building. A little noisy perhaps, but if you want total quiet I suppose a nursing home might be your best option. My first (and hopefully only) gripe is the happy hour. They advertised a happy hour, but I showed up and it was like Deadwood (sans tumbleweed). Come on MDCA!!! I demand satisfaction!!! Anyways, please don't take this review too seriously. Also, it seems like there are a lot of haters (competitors perhaps) in this joint. Cheers.

Disappointed...
When I first visited this complex, I was quite impressed with the general d cor of the property, amenities, and apartment itself. However, as the months passed, my impression changed. My biggest complaint about this property is the noise. The apartment has minimal sound proofing. When my neighbor turns on his television/sound system, my living room wall vibrates. It is even worse when my neighbor returns home after bar close and continues to party into the early hours of the morning with the bass cranked, laughing, and yelling. (I felt like I was living in a dorm at times.) Hallway noise is also noticeable, whether it is people talking or dogs barking. No matter what, I am paying way too much money listening to my neighbors. On a positive note, the location is great, especially in the summer. Other tenants are friendly. Overall, I did not have any safety concerns. I cannot comment on the office staff, as I really did not have to deal with them, because I did not have any maintenance issues. The stairwells remind me of what Section 8 housing would look likeā¦Ā See More>3/27/2023

Highly Regulated Lifestyle for Rent
If you're looking for an overpriced, poorly managed apartment building then this is the place for you! Dog poop in the hallways? Check. Vomit in the elevators? Check. Constantly broken amenities that take months to fix? Double check. If you're looking to have something taken care of or hoping for a quick response to an inquiring, don't even bother with management or the front office. "The Office is open until 6:00pm." Sure, if by "open" management means lights off and doors locked. Note that in addition to the high cost of rent, tenants are required to pay all utilities and by all I mean electric, gas and even water. Each unit is individually metered for water and monthly costs in my opinion seem to be pretty inconsistent. I don't think the building is very safe either when not just tenants but the office staff gladly let unknown visitors into the building. Sure, the building looks nice from the outside, and even sometimes from the inside. But that sauna may start on fire (more than once), the outdoor grill may be broken for months and the hot tub in need of a newā¦Ā See More>bjornb

Wish I didn't have to go!
MDCA is a sweet place to live if you can afford it. Hot tub, sauna, pool, hardwood floors, own washer/dryer, AC, middle of downtown, underground parking... need I say more? It's expensive but worth it for me. My only gripe is that the walls are a little thin to the hallways, but it isn't too bad as to make me not want to live here.

Overall
Overall, I have been satisfied with the Mill District City Apartments. The staff is very friendly and willing to stop what they are doing to help out. Common areas are generally clean and organized and any major issues seem to be taken care of in a timely fashion. I will say the in-unit washer/dryer are rather noisy as is the HVAC unit (especially air conditioning). It makes it near impossible to enjoy anything in the living room (watching TV, talking on the phone, etc.)

I like living here!
It is one of the few nice dog friendly buildings in downtown. Do not move here if you don't like dogs! It is a nice community. I actually know, greet and hang out with my neighbors and people show up for the resident happy hour (unlike other places I have lived). The units are beautiful and comfortable to live in! The one complaint I have is that we were promised things before we moved in that never happened like an off- leash area for the dogs and that they keep switching staff around to much.

Mill District Apartment Living Review
I love living in the Mill District Building. It's hip, fun, safe, clean and convenient. My room was freshly painted before moving in and the building always looks great. Here are a few suggestions to make it even better: - Consider putting a key fob scanner (like you have out front) in the elevator. It would increase the level of safety to have our residents have to scan their key fob before they're able to select a floor. It worries me a bit that when entering the garage it's a downhill slope so you cannot see if anyone came in through the garage door behind you. If you had a key fob scanner in the elevator, no one would be able to get up into the building without a resident present. - Consider having a concierge on duty every night into the late hours. Weekends especially! I came back to the building around 1:30 one evening to a homeless man sleeping on the lobby couch. I woke the gentleman up to see if he lived there and he said he did not and then left the premise. - Consider having pet only/ no pets allowed floors. Dogs barking in the early morningā¦Ā See More>3/27/2023

Roger's review
The quality of all public areas (indoor and outdoor) are superior....some of the best I have seen. Marissa and Stephen are tremendously professional and extremely courteous. The garage needs a good scrubbing......not sure why it is so dirty and it has clearly not been cleaned since the building opened. The quality of the construction and appointments in the actual apartments is "average" and the insulation (noise control) between units is below average (and I am confident you have heard this before specific to this and other properties).

Great Location and Great Management, with awesome amenities!
We moved in to Mill District Apartments shortly after it opened in Janurary of 2011. We enjoy that there is a major bus stop right in front of the building, and that it is 1/2 a block away from the Mississippi and West River Parkway! We pay an arm and a leg for rent but it is worth it considering the staff that maintains the property are very professional and timely, and the amazing club room, pool, sauna, and workout room are always open! We like the security the building provides and love that we live in such a pet friendly environment. Dan has been particularly helpful in anything we ask of him. He is a true professional!

excellent place to live
I have been living here for about 8 months and love it. Excellent building. Problems are solved quickly, staff are very pleasant and helpful, wonderful community to be a part of. I love my apartment. No it is not the cheapest building in town, but you get what you pay for, and utilities are very low and the location on the outskirts of downtown is very convenient for just about anything you need or want to do.

MDCA review
I have lived here for 6 months. I love the location it is convenient for me to walk to most anything I would need. The amenities are nice and well kept. On cold winter days when I don't want to venture outside they provide a nice repreve from my apartment. My only complaint would be the nose. I can hear my neighbors vacuum, TV, music ect.... Even louder is the noise in the hallway. I am across from the stairwell and elevator; i can hear everything and so can my dog. At times I can overlook this, but it is difficult when I am trying to sleep and what sounds like 10 rowdy people are standing right outside my door.
