THE WORST MANAGEMENT STAFF EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My husband and I lived in AMLI at Summit Ridge for one year. A month after we moved out we received a notice from AMLI saying we owed them $234 to replace the carpet in the apartment we had with them. I called and spoke to management about the issue...needing clarification because I thought deposits would cover any issues. They said we owed the difference (the carpet was more than our deposits). After much disgust with them I sent them a check a couple of weeks later. The same week we mailed the check I received a notice from AMLI's attorney (acting as their debt collector). I didn't think anything of it since I mailed the check I figured the attorney would get word that I paid and end of story. NOT EXACTLY...As of February 2008 my credit report was still showing I had this unpaid debt to AMLI!!!! I immediately called the law office (I couldn't remember who I mailed the check to since it was two years ago) and I explained to them how I already paid this back in August of '06. They said they needed proof, they would need a copy of the front and back of the check which I requested from my bank. While I was waiting for the check to come in the mail I was so frustrated with AMLI that I went on their website and found the contact info. for the person in charge of financial complaints at their headquarters in Chicago. I emailed her explaining the situation and said I was requesting my credit report be fixed immediately and that I get a refund of the $234 I paid for new carpet. I receieved an email the next day from her and she explained this would be looked into and someone would get back to me. In the meantime I received my copy of the check and called the law office up to proceed with faxing them a copy...that's when the lawyer himself wanted to speak with me. He apologized and said he corrected my credit report and said sometimes these things happen. He was trying to smooth everything over in hopes I would go away. It turns out I sent the carpet check to AMLI and they failed to report payment to the law office (to clear my credit). AMLI claims they told the law office that I paid but they have no record of it...or at least they are not sharing with me. I have requested several copies of paperwork from them and have only been ignored. I have also filed a complaint against them in Better Business Bureau. My complaint is listed as Unresolved BBB Definition: Unresolved - The company failed to resolve the complaint issues. 1 - Company failed to resolve the complaint issues through the BBB voluntary and self-regulatory process. I cannot understand how the staff gets hired on in some of these apartment communities...they are dealing with people's personal and financial information and you would think they would have higher standards and respect for their customers. I would NOT RECOMMEND STAYING AT ANY AMLI APARTMENT COMPLEX...I CRINGE EVERYTIME I SEE ONE! And don't forget...AMLI stands for AS*HOLE MANAGEMENT LYING IDIOTS. :)
