First and foremost I wanted to thank the maintenance staff of Waterford Forest for acting quickly to the recent events that took place Friday the 13th of June. I had a knock at my door at 3pm by two of your staff members asking if I had any issues with the tub overflowing and possible water damage. My response was that ?I just got home and I haven?t had time to look?. I then walked back to my bathroom and there was about a 4 foot radius of water that extended from the bathroom onto the carpet. Please make note that NONE of MY belongings were damaged. The linoleum in the bathroom had about an inch of water on top of it and the tub had unknown material/substance in it. The two workers came back to my apartment with disinfectant and a powerful carpet cleaner/vacuum within a speedy 30 minutes. I was under the impression that the men were going to clean up the flood on their own as opposed to hiring a professional company/cleaner for the job. I was told that there would be fans inside my apartment. I mentioned to the workers that I am going to stay with some friends for the evening on Friday. The head of maintenance, Chris, said it may take 1-2 days for the carpet to dry out and that it is not harmful for me to stay there in my apartment. I spoke to Chris on Saturday the 14th in the afternoon. He mentioned that I could come back home as long as the fans didn?t bother me. I came home and my thermostat read 78 degrees and the padding of the carpet near the bathroom was still wet. I am suspecting the padding underneath was also. I kept the fans running like I was told and Chris came by to see me on Sunday the 15th. He was very professional and listened to my concerns about how my apartment now smells like a wet rag and that I, along with my three year old niece (frequent visitor) both have mold and mildew allergies. I feel that these types of conditions would render the apartment uninhabitable. Chris said that he is going to make sure that the apartment does not have that smell anymore and that the padding will be replaced if the smell does not come out. I am asking you kindly (for the sake of my small niece) that it gets replaced due to sanitary and allergy reasons. You have a great community and great staff. I trust that you will make all of the correct decisions concerning my apartment.
