My experience prior to move-in was a little weird. When I came in for a tour, a leasing consultant asked to see my ID and then went to get her keys. A little while later when I asked to have my ID back, she told me she left it on her desk... Anyone could have just taken it. If I weren't running out of time to find a place to live, I wouldn't have come back.
When I first looked at these apartments online, I thought the rent was a great deal for the space and amenities, but later found out they add all these extra fees to the base rent. They require you to pay $50 for cable tv whether you want it or not - and even if you do want it, you're paying more than Time Warner charges for the same tv package. Then there's the "statement fee." They charge you a dollar every month to receive an electronic statement (and a whopping $5 if you want paper statements). Be prepared to spend at least an extra $66 per month over the advertised rent.
If all the unadvertised fees don't bother you, it's not a bad place to live. I don't hear my neighbors, which was my main reason for leaving my last apartment, nor do I hear traffic from nearby streets. My floorplan is the biltmore and my bedroom and bathroom are the largest I've ever had. The location is awesome, and close to so many stores and restaurants. Parking is a bit of a nightmare. If you come home late at night, you'll be lucky to find a spot within view of your building, but earlier it's not as bad. My apartment is not one of the upgraded ones and many aspects of it are really outdated. The stove is very old and has no buttons or clock, the kitchen sink doesn't have one of those spray attachments, the bathroom fan is obnoxiously loud, the water pressure is weird, and the bath tub doesn't even have a drain stopper. However, if you get used to living without some modern conveniences, it's a nice place.
Overall, I don't regret moving here, although I am a little bitter about the hidden costs and flaky office staff.
