CAR BREAK-INS and terrible customer service!

What they WON'T tell you before you move in... 1) There were two rounds of car break-ins during the last few months of 2010. Residents were only notified by letter after the first five break-ins in the parking lots (both outside and in the garages). Last week I asked if anyone was arrested for the crimes and I was told no, but there has been another more recent series of break-ins on the property (of course, we were not told). The community may be "gated", but anyone could walk in and there are no cameras on the property. 2) There is ongoing construction in the retail shops so there may be loud noise and unattractive dumpsters in view for an "undetermined" amount of time. 3) You have to pay a non-refundable $50 per gate remote and $25 for a key FOB...so don't lose yours or have a roommate! 4) Your rent will increase 10% year after year with no improvement to the property and no explanation of what you are paying for. Even if the apartment next to yours is identical, listed for less money, and has been vacant for 3 months, you will still be charged more rent. There is no loyalty to their customer base. Be careful not to ask to discuss the increase, no manager will be available. The mysterious formula sets the price and that's that! 5) If you do not move out exactly the day that your lease expires, you are charged a pro-rated amount per day MUCH higher your current rent rate. 6) They WILL mention that if you are ever unhappy with your unit, you can simply transfer. They WILL NOT mention that a transfer involves a non-refundable charge of $550 and another $100-$300 refundable. Unlike the last reviewer, I have no unkind words for the manager, Carrie Cole, because she has been on maternity leave. Maybe that's why this complex has forgotten what it means to respect their customers. As a resident you also have to provide your own washer and dryer, pay a $4/mo. trash fee (though you carry your own trash out) and you must carry renters insurance. Do yourself a favor and explore the many other, newer and more affordable options in SouthPark. I certify that everything stated above is 100% true.
