Resident 2012 - 2013

4/8/2013

I regret every cent of the overpriced rent that we paid at Post Park Phillips Place. The apartments are old, dark, and the appliances are extremely outdated. We had countless palmetto bugs as they called them. However they wanted to call them, they were nasty roaches to me! The apartments are poorly built, there is no insulation in the frames of the doors, and in the winter you could feel a mass amount of cold air rushing through the cracks of the doors. Before we moved into our apartments we were told that numerous things were going to be fixed before we moved in and none of those things were fixed over the entire year of us living there, despite multiple phone calls to the office and online requests. The walls are so thin that our neighbor coughing in the middle of the night would wake us up (we are both heavy sleepers). Also, they have a HUGE mold issue; we had a large amount of reoccurring mold. We were told by the maintenance staff and the property manager that mold is normal and common in our building. Clearly the staff does not care about their wellbeing of their resident if they can describe mold as normal in their apartment complex. Looks can certainly be deceiving, because the exterior is not any better than the interior of the apartments. The parking is HORRIBLE! If you do not make it home before 5 o clock, count on parking 3 buildings away from your building. Even all of the handicap spots are occupied illegally; with the onsite officer being one of the violators and allowing his guests to do so as well. I did not feel safe walking from my car to my apartment at night because of the poor lighting and due to the fact that the gate was never working properly. I have been locked in and out of the apartment complex, the gate has been left wide open for days, and the gate has actually fallen on top of my car. One night around Christmas time, the gate was left open and nonresidents were going door to door selling magazines as we were packing our bags for Europe. I m sure those people were scoping out apartments to see what they could steal over the holidays while people were out of town. During the two weeks that we were in Europe I was constantly worrying that our cars or our apartment had been broken into. We contacted the incompetent office staff about all of the reoccurring issues and they either did not have a solution or completely blew us off. As our lease came to an end, it was a clear choice that we were no longer going to stay in that horrible place. We found great humor in the fact that if we did decide to stay, that they were going to raise our rent substantially; they are out of their minds if they think that we are dumb enough to pay $1200 dollars for a crappy one bedroom apartment. Clearly no one else thought it was worth it either because they ended up renting it out for LESS than what we were paying in the first place. Overall, this place could be so much better than what it is because of the great location, but because of lack of upkeep, lack of updates, and poor management, this place is just horrible. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
