My husband and I moved into the Vinoy as newly weds and for the exception of the last four months of our residency, the experience was really nice. Apartments were clean, neighbors were quiet, and staff was helpful and courteous. The CARE team was very kind, even when it changed hands.
We got two new neighbors in the last four months of our residency; the one above us constantly banged around since they had two kids so we tried to let that slide, and neighbor next to us constantly played loud music. Headphones solved that problem. Then my car got broken into despite being locked with no valuables visible, and it was not the first or last time a car break-in happened while in the apartment.
Maintainence became iffy as well. They went from giving ETAs and looking into the problem, to not showing up at all or flat out lying about fixing said problem (I had put in a request about ants in the apartment. At 1.15pm I left for five minutes to get the mail and came back to a letter on the counter saying that they sprayed at 11am. I was home all day and they hadn't shown up).
Management had changed and while new staff was nice too, they were inexperienced. My husband and I gave our two month notice on time for moving out, which they lost and wrongly charged us $2,500 for it. When I told them about it, they said they can't change it but advised stopping auto payment so we wouldn't get charged and that Edith would inform the manager that day and they would try to fix things on their end. Not a problem, things like this happen, so I did what they advised. My husband went to their office to pay our rent and was treated rudely since I had called twice trying to ensure we wouldn't be charged in a different way and to confirm exact rent amount to give them.
Well, lo and behold, three days later we were charged anyway because the Vinoy's name was slightly altered in that draft so it bypassed the stop payment. We were overdrafted and thus missed our bills and mortgage payment. Vinoy's manager said she hadn't been alerted about the situation until the day before and couldn't do anything besides sending us a check that we wouldn't receive until a week later. My bank fortunately stepped up and reversed the charge, but my husband and I were furious since it potentially could have affected our credit score due to their asinine error and poor management of the issue. Manager had promised to reimburse us the fees associated with stop payment and any late fees, but despite sending them a bank statement outlining said fees and calling them, they did not answer or even cared to follow up.
TL;DR: Great at first, but management, maintainence, and safety declined rapidly in the waning months of our residency.
