I am reviewing Berkshire Cameron Village because I was given incorrect information when signing our lease and the local management and the upper management would not acknowledge it and come to a middle ground agreement. When signing our lease, we made it very clear we were likely not going to be able to fulfill the lease, and we inquired what was the penalty for breaking the lease ? We were told you'd "pay nothing because you are not receiving any concessions." We asked this very specific question more than once and got the exact same answer. Even on our actual lease, two spots where there's a box to check if you have to pay a penalty - it was NOT checked. And below that box, a space indicating what you need to pay if you break your leave - that space was blank. The manager sited those particular spots in the lease when telling us we DID owe a months rent. When we told her our lease did not have a box checked or an amount sited, she did not mention those spots in the lease again. Only place in the lease was a statement that we'd owe a months rent, and we did give Berkshire an extra month's rent, because we gave them 60 days notice not just 30 days notice. We were told they send us to "collections" if we did not pay the additional fee. So hence the reason for reviewing their apartment. We were completely mislead and no one would talk to us and have a shred of customer service to their resident. We were baffled. In our opinion, Customer Service goes out the window at the Berkshire Cameron Village after you sign on the dotted line. Other complaints ? - freight elevator for the moving in / moving out is the SAME elevator I'd use on a daily basis. So technically, they do not have a freight elevator to help you move in and out. Frequently I'd have to take the stairs or go to another elevator when someone was moving in or out. This fact was not revealed to us when we asked about the freight elevator. On the day we were moving out, we had the elevator from 8am to 1pm on a Friday, one gentleman got very annoyed at us. We told him we were sorry, but that's the way Berkshire does it. Very inconvenient to a lot of residents! - elevators are extremely slow. All residents complained about that issue! - ceilings are incredibly thin. We were frequently bothered by the noise above us. - the garage on the main level (behind the gates) has a large amount of trash just piled up. Sinks, wooden pallets (pictured below). We pointed out to the manager a month and a half ago, and she said she'd talk care if it, and nothing's been done. - while we were living there the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night for at least 20 minutes. A few days before that it had gone off again. It was miserable.
