Always, if possible, visit this community in person.  The community website does show floor plans and amenities (yes, the amenities are outstanding) similar to a Resort Vacation.  What is not obvious, is the access to gated fob parking, and the secured building entry for residents. It's a bit tricky at first understanding the parking levels and how they correlate with residence access.  I now see this as a great deterrent for retail/restaurant patrons.  Residents must have a Fob.  Visitors have the ability (after Leasing Office closes) to access resident directory at FRONT DOOR LOCATION via keypad.  It's not a general code that can be shared.  The resident has a CHOICE if access is granted. 
Meeting the staff, even 24hr maintenance team, made the difference in choosing Berkshire.  Websites are great for general   seeing how well the property is maintained, package concierge, valet trash, is impressive.  However, how the staff respond to your questions is vital either in person or via email.  This staff wants feedback and responds quickly.

Raleigh-Durham-Chapel-Hill-NC-MSA

I am reviewing Berkshire Cameron Village because I was given incorrect information when signing our lease and the local management and the upper management would not acknowledge it and come to a middle ground agreement.

When signing our lease, we made it very clear we were likely not going to be able to fulfill the lease, and we inquired what was the penalty for breaking the lease ?  We were told you&apos;d &quot;pay nothing because you are not receiving any concessions.&quot;  We asked this very specific question more than once and got the exact same answer.  

Even on our actual lease, two spots where there&apos;s a box to check if you have to pay a penalty - it was NOT checked.  And below that box, a space indicating what you need to pay if you break your leave - that space was blank.  
The manager sited those particular spots in the lease when telling us we DID owe a months rent.  When we told her our lease did not have a box checked or an amount sited, she did not mention those spots in the lease again.

Only place in the lease was a statement that we&apos;d owe a months rent, and we did give Berkshire an extra month&apos;s rent, because we gave them 60 days notice not just 30 days notice.  We were told they send us to &quot;collections&quot; if we did not pay the additional fee.  So hence the reason for reviewing their apartment.  We were completely mislead and no one would talk to us and have a shred of customer service to their resident.  We were baffled.  In our opinion, Customer Service goes out the window at the Berkshire Cameron Village after you sign on the dotted line.

Other  complaints ?
- freight elevator for the moving in / moving out is the SAME elevator I&apos;d use on a daily basis.  So technically, they do not have a freight elevator to help you move in and out.  Frequently I&apos;d have to take the stairs or go to another elevator when someone was moving in or out.  This fact was not revealed to us when we asked about the freight elevator.  On the day we were moving out, we had the elevator from 8am to 1pm on a Friday, one gentleman got very annoyed at us.  We told him we were sorry, but that&apos;s the way Berkshire does it.  Very inconvenient to a lot of residents!
- elevators are extremely slow.  All residents complained about that issue!
- ceilings are incredibly thin.  We were frequently bothered by the noise above us.  
- the garage on the main level (behind the gates) has a large amount of trash just piled up.  Sinks, wooden pallets (pictured below). We pointed out to the manager a month and a half ago, and she said she&apos;d talk care if it, and nothing&apos;s been done.
- while we were living there the fire alarm went off  in the middle of the night for at least 20 minutes.  A few days before that it had gone off again.  It was miserable.

People here are very nice and friendly ,environment is good enough and it is so convienent to buy somethings. I satisfied the service most. When I meet problem, office staffs try their best to help me to slove.

The fun never stops. Meeting new people daily. Events planned that you don't want to miss awesome staff and friendly neighbors make it easy to adjust. I can't wait to use the fire pit with friends and family

For a building that claims to be a luxury apartment, the Berkshire is very poorly maintained. The pool is often randomly closed, the trash rooms are constantly overflowing, one of the elevators was down for weeks, the mail room has been broken and unsecured since before Christmas, my dishwasher was broken for 6 months before they finally replaced it, my closet racks have fallen off of the wall twice, the gate to the parking garage was broken for a prolonged period of time leading to residents getting their cars broken into and vandalized (mine was keyed), and the building loves to charge residents extra for anything they can think of. Management is unapproachable and do not care about fixing things promptly. I would suggest looking elsewhere. Instead of fixing things like the overflowing trash room, management sends out emails complaining to residents about how they should use it less. IÃ¢â‚¬â„¢ve attached a photo of the trash room. Edit: the building refuses to give me the email of upper management and has put a fine on my account.
