Beautiful Building - Wonderful STaff
The Parc Cameron has a wonderful staff, and Hector the superintendent along with Ruben, his helper are exceptional When I had problems with a clog in my bathroom fixtures Hector did not hesitate to come to my apartment 11:00 at night and fix the problem, Recently I had a new bathroom vanity installed. Ruben installed it perfectly. And Hector took it upon himself to upgrade faucets and other in my bathroom. I now have a much more modern bathroom, and both Ruben and Hector did a careful, thorough job installing the hardware.

Bugs Bugs Bugs. Horrible building manager who defends horrible maintenance as "we didn't force you to move in here ". There is a thirty day money back guarantee but no one will answer your calls in that 30 days.

I have been living at The Parc Cameron for many years. It is a great place to live. The staff greets me with a smile every morning, and is attentive to all matters. As well, the neighborhood is great, just steps from Central Park, fantastic restaurants, movie theatres, museums, coffee shops, fruitstands, and gyms. This is a gret place to live as it is also very safe.

PARK CAMERON AKA THE COCKROACH HOTEL
SIMPLY PUT... I'VE NEVER SEEN SO MANY COCKROACHES IN MY LIFE. SOME ARE SO BIG ITS LIKE THEY JUST CAME OUT OF THE JUNGLE. SIZE OF A FIST. THE BUILDING DOESNT CARE ABOUT THE PROBLEM. IT'S BEEN THIS WAY FOR A LONG TIME. EQUITY RESIDENTIAL IS A JOKE. PARK CAMERON IS CLOSER TO THE PROJECTS THEN A LUXURY BUILDING.

Mice, roaches, broken wooden floors, etc
I would definitely not recommend this building. Pretty serious problem with mice that they refuse to do anything about and I've seen several roaches coming out the cracks in the bathroom walls. The first day I moved in I had broken floors that I complained to the super about. He stopped by, took a look and said "hmm it might take a bit but we'll get them fixed" that was 9 months ago. The neighborhood is pretty quiet and safe but one HUGE drawback for me has been the dogs. There are dogs all over the city but there's something extra special about this particular block of 86th street between CPW and Columbus. The entire street smells worse then a public bathroom, it's simply vile. I just got their lease renewal and my rent went up from $1755 (1 free month factored in, $1915 monthly) to $2171 a month!!! For a 330sq studio with the smallest kitchen in the world? No thanks. So needless to say, I'm moving out.

great bldg
i moved here when i first moved to nyc. nothing to spectacular, but a great first place. neighborhood is very nice, family oriented, and safe. the staff is excellent. location is also ideal since you have subway/bus station within the block; taxis are always around. my only two negatives are: street noise and rent price. because the bldg faces 86th st there is always (ALWAYS) traffic noise, but you get used to it. the rent price is too much for the space you are paying for, but at the time i was kind of desperate and didn't know any better.

Location/Cleanliness
I moved in at the end of February to a small studio. I wasn't too crazy about the size but the priority for me was the cleanliness and the location of the building since I have a home in W. Coast and the apartment is for my work in NYC. Before I decided to search for an apartment, my biggest worry was the cleanliness, or lack there of, since I have lived in NYC apartments for 5 years before I moved to California in 2003 I knew how difficult it was to find a "clean" apartment in NYC. The small studio in Parc Cameron I moved in February just had a renovation done - bathroom, floor, wall, closet, kitchen, new appliances...etc., and I couldn't be any happier. It is clean and I can still smell the fresh coat of paint and varnish, and the brand new refrigerator, stove, kitchen cabinet and bathroom sink. And, the location is perfect for me becasue I run the park on a daily basis. I am very happy that I found an apartment I like without searching for weeks. The contract signing to move-in processes were handled in very organized manner by the management company, which made the move much less stressful.

mice
This building has a decent size problem with mice. They get into several of the floors and they are not great about getting rid of them. I cannot recommend the building based on that. I wish I could, b/c it has some nice elements to it, but if you can't sleep and have to live with mice, it's not worth a hill of beans.

Great building --- if you can get a good layout
Overall, I love my apartment and I love this building. The staff have all worked there many years and are great to their tenants. Any problems are resolved extremely quickly. Most apartments are small and have quirky layouts. For those apartments with good layouts however, the location is fabulous and this is an amazing place to live. They have recently renovated the entire building, including new elevators, common areas and new machines in the laundry room. The only downside is a lack of building/bike storage and the fact that units do not include air conditioning (you have to buy your own, but the super will install for you). All new apartments are updated with granite counters, modern appliances and cherry wood cabinets, though the craftsmanship on the renovations isn't always the best.

Issues
I rented the studio an moved in on Saturday February 6th 2010. What a surprise. Although the apartment was completely renovated they did not notice few things: 1. Heating unit was broken and did not have heat that weekend. 2. The window was leaking cold air. I had to place plastic bag over it to prevent cold air to leak into apartment without heat. 3. The old toilette seat was still there. The heating unit and toilette seat were fixed on Monday 02/08/10. Today is March 1st and I was informed that window should be replaced on Wednesday, March 3rd. This is becoming unnecessarily annoying experience. I would never imagine that for $1600 that I am paying for a studio here I would have to complain about heat, window or old toilette seat.
