Resident 2009

10/25/2009

We have not been the best tenants. Because of job problems between my girlfriend and I, we have paid our rent late on many occasions. The office has been courteous with us about it with one exception early on. The main office seems to be understaffed. Parking isn't bad. The largest annoyance I have is that people always park in front of the mailboxes. It used to be designated mail-parking however they haven't repainted that designation on since they repaved the parking lot (the parking lines are there, of course, just no designation). I don't always get parking right up front but it's within reason. Watch out for staff, though - they don't seem to look where they're going and I've almost crushed them and their little golf-carts a couple of times now. This place is not handicap accessible whatsoever. Don't even bother if that's a concern of yours. The apartments near mine all require stairs to get to and the only handicap ramp I've seen is in front of the office. Only a few of the tenants pick up after their animals regardless of the provided bags and receptacles. The creek stinks. The landscapers haphazardly mow over anything and everything and just leave the grass clippings on the sidewalk but at least it's kept, I suppose. The lighting isn't that great, especially with all the stairs. Noise is a problem. The close proximity of this apartment to UCO makes this pretty well populated with the younger folk. I can hear the party that seems to happen every Friday across the yard/expanse from me as well as anyone speaking over a whisper on the sidewalk outside my apartment. The walls are quite thin. This place is "under renovations" which is a nice way to say "don't expect to sleep past 9am if you're a light sleeper." I haven't had any sizable problems with rodents or pests except for immediately after the first time they sprayed for pests (ironically). I've seen one roach while here, no rodents (nor have my cats found any). I find a spider every month or so. Craftmanship is lazily done. They seem to think that paint is a cure-all around here from the looks of it. Appliances are workable. Maintenance does respond quickly and seems to know at least a little bit about what they're doing. The apartments aren't so bad that I feel I need to move out immediately however I could not bring myself to recommend this place to anyone else and I don't plan to renew my lease.
