Resident 2010

Looks great ... till you move in

This place looked great when we first moved in, we later came to find that all was not what it seemed. Here is my tale .... The carpets were not properly cleaned, we had to vaccum numerous times to get all the tiny carpet fibers up, to this day we still get a bunch of carpet fibers when we vaccum. The air vents were barely blowing any warm air out, my other half had to clean all of them out in order to get any air flow in our apartment. When he cleaned, there were old nails, mounds of dust and what looked like lint and he even found an old rats nest. The carpet is cheap to say the least and resulted in not only us but several visitors getting a rash from it on our/their legs when we sat down on the floor and also breathing problems from the fibers. It is coming up in bits on the stairway and the corners of rooms. The wood floor which we first found nice, has been rapidly seperating, resulting in pinched feet when walking across it. The kitchen has ONE drawer - yes just one and the cabnets are so low that you really can't put any appliances underneath them. In the warmer months we had a mouse problem to almost plague proportions as did neighbours, we got a thing from pest control that the mice would eat and go away and die somewhere in the apartment which would mean the apartment would have smelt, so we went with the mouse trap option, quick, easy and best of all no dead mouse smell - noone was offered reembursment for the cost of the mouse traps that were bought (trust me there were quite a few used) - we later found out that someone was given discount rent due to having a mouse problem - wonder what happened for us and others not to be given that same deal :o/ Then there is the crime, a few of the apartments almost got broken in to, having their sliding doors jimmy'd open, people looking through peoples windows, tyres getting slashed. A hold up at gun point of someone in the apartment complex which resulted in at least 10 Edmond police cars blocking off the carparks and searching the grounds. There seem to be police here all the time, and not just one car turning up - it is usually 2-4 at a time. Various other neighbours have had problems regarding aircon, dryer vents that are fire hazards, leaking water systems, burst pipes and mould. Don't even think of going for a walk on the grass anywhere - dog owners let their dogs go anywhere they want and DO NOT clean up after them, even though there are adequate doggy doo bins with bags. It is like walking in a dog poop mine field and smells revolting in the heat. Not the mention all the flies it attracts!! Be my guest if you want to move in here - the staff will listen to you and your problems, take note of them and say they will get someone on it but it doesn't always happen - sometimes it can take days. Higher management in the company that owns this place is nothing short of a joke, dismissing anything they are told and saying "well i wasn't aware of that proplem/that happening" which is funny really as it should be their job to know what is going on - half the time the staff don't even know what goes on in the apartments unless residents tell them. If you want to go to the pool - go early in the morning when it first opens, otherwise there will be nothing but screaming, foul mouthed, unsupervised kids there - most of which don't know how to swim either! Go anytime in the afternoon/evening and it will look like the BP oil leak, all murky looking and revolting. In summer watch out for the random pool parties, resulting in LOUD music and what appeared to be naked people walking around the complex - half the people that go to the pool don't even live here. The security lighting is poor in some areas of the complex - I personally don't feel safe taking the garbage out after dark! Heed my warning, save your money and move somewhere better - this place is HUGELY overpriced for what it really is - an old, slanted, crooked floored, repainted 1973 apartment complex! You can put lipstick on a pig ... at the end of the day - it is still a PIG!
