Two Years at Museum Place and I'm still there and love it !

I have lived in Portland all my life...............in July of 2008 it was time to move downtown............a move I had been working on for awhile. I chose Musuem Place because it was the first apartment complex that I called where a human (Ben Merrill) answered the telephone when I called, spent over 30 minutes on the phone with me answering questions and giving me information and then met with me a few days later to show me the building. At first, he anticipated that there would not be a unit available for several months...........OK with me as I was planning a long trip and hadn't moved in 20 years so had A LOT to do. Well, Ben called about a week later and he had three units to show me................long story short(er), I moved two weeks later ! And it has been great ! Before my move-in the apartment was specially painted to my specifications and after I had been in residence for about three months, the kitchen linoleum was replaced, also to my specifications. The office staff is friendly and competent and always willing to answer questions. All maintenance requests that I have had (three in two years) have been handled promptly, I enjoy the secure garage and have never had a problem getting a parking space. I travel a lot and can leave almost at a moment's notice because everything is taken care of here...............I love the high ceilings, my balcony, the view to the West Hills and my washer/dryer. Downtown noise does not bother me at all. There are only a couple of downsides for me - side to side noise as the common walls are paper thin but for the last year I have had very considerate neighbors so that works out. Also, the carpet is poor quality and, although it was cleaned before I moved in, the former tenant had both a cat and a dog so there are "claw marks and pulls" around the edges. The building is concrete so it's well insulated and my electric bills are very low (and I use the AC on HIGH a lot and do laundry daily)........there is no up/down noise at all. I was concerned about this as I had always been the upstairs tenant and never had someone above me...........not a problem at Museum Place. All in all, this is a great place for me..............
