Resident ā€¢ 2010 - 2012

12/22/2012

Museum Place was sold in January 2012. The company that owns it now is really bad. Embarrassingly bad. We used to have maintenance staff that lived in the building. The new company replaced them with a 1-800 number for a maintenance hotline that dials to Texas. Even if the problem is as minor as one of your track lights needing to be replaced, you have to go through Houston Texas to get it done. I wish I was kidding. The walls are paper thin. We can hear everything that goes on in the hallway and in our neighbor's apartments. Every time our neighbors have sex, we hear it. Every time they do the dishes, we hear it. The walls are so thin that we can hear when our neighbors open their closets. To make matters worse, the building's new owners came up with a brilliant plan for jacking up the rent. They're installing hardwood floors. Sounds nice, right? The problem is that sound travels through the paper thin walls and through the floors and ceilings. The building allows pets. As I type this, it's 1:30 in the morning and I can hear dogs in two units howling back and forth. It's a regular occurrence. Rent here is really high. The location is excellent, and that's the only reason they get away with charging so much.
