Resident ā€¢ 2008 - 2010

12/20/2010

So-so apartments

I have been a resident of Village Sqaure since July of 2008. There are some good things and of course some not so good things. The Good: -For the most part the complex is very nice. Grounds are maintained and in the winter the maintenance crew does a quick job of keeping everything clear. -The office staff is always extremely polite to deal with. They always follow up on maintenance calls. More on that later. -The location could not be in a better place. Located directly behind a shopping center and in a only a short distance from I-95, US-1, and the PA Turnpike. The Not So Good: -Electric bill is ridiculous with the forced air heat. I have a two bedroom and pay on average of $200 in the winter and $150 in the winter. Sucks. -While the office staff is always courteous, sometimes it may take more than one call to get the answer you need. -Maintenance seems only to patch problems up rather than fully fix them. For instance I have been dealing with a leaky roof for the past 2 years. They always patch the ceiling and repaint it, but I really just wish they would fix the problem to begin with as I am always fearful my personal property will be damaged (By the way I am on the first floor apartment) -For the most part all the neighbors are polite and friendly, however there seems to be more and more neighbors with pets who do not pick up after their dogs and walk them unleashed. Needless to say, Village Square is EXTREMELY pet friendly. (Something I personally rather not have. Nothing ruins your day more than stepping in a pile of dog poo!)By the way, they say there is a size limit but I have seen some very large dogs here. -Parking is a joke sometimes. Maybe just in my courtyard, but if I come home later than normal on a weeknight, I have to park a couple courtyards away. Overall: It's not a not a bad place. I feel that for the money they could be a little nicer. Granted they are starting to renovate but they are charging more and calling those units luxury. Check out Middletown Trace which is just a short drive up PA-513. Rent is slightly lower or about the same but includes heat and hotwater. That is where I will be moving when my lease is up.
