You can add a little flair to the furnishings in your apartment by using a variety of decorative vase ideas. Vases don’t need to be used simply for floral arrangements. You can also use them creatively for other types of decorating looks as well. Because vases come in a various shapes, sizes and materials, there are a number of decorative schemes you can follow when using this type of accessory.

#1 – Use Vases Similar in Color and Style as a Grouping on a Shelf

If you want to add a simple yet stylish look to a shelf or to a mantel, then include ceramic vases in various sizes yet similar styles and harmonizing colors. This look, which is ideal for any home or apartment furnished in Mission or Shabby Chic styling, can also be used in eclectic decors. Collect about 5 or 6 off-white or pastel-colored ceramic vases that are shaped alike but are different sizes. Choose a couple of bud vases and medium and larger vases for effect. Include some homemade flowers whose leaves and petals have been knitted or crocheted. Or craft some flowers from clay, paint them and place them in some of the vases in the grouping. No need to worry about any wilting blooms in this arrangement.

#2 – Use Jars for Canning and Canister-Type Jars for Vases

If you enjoy a country or cottage decor, then you may like to include canister-type jars or jars used for canning to hold cut flowers.

Include gerbera daisies or, if it’s springtime, add tulips or daffodils to the theme. Place the vase-like jars on the ledge next to a window in the kitchen or on a countertop. They also look nice on a picnic table on your patio. Add a cloth or plastic gingham tablecloth in red, blue or yellow to heighten the cheery, country look.

#3 – Use a Large Glass Vase and Fill it with Colored Marbles

For a stunning look, yet economical with respect to cost, use a large-mouthed glass vase and add either polished rocks, marbles, or colored glass. You can obtain the marbles or glass at any dollar or craft store. For added emphasis, place the vase on a table made of tempered glass in front of a mirror at the end of a narrow hall or in a foyer. This type of decorative theme works out well whether your apartment has traditional or more modern furnishings.

#4 – Use a Large Brass Vase in a Hallway or in the Corner of a Living Area

A dramatic look for any apartment, which is decorated with antique or traditional furnishings, is a large brass vase that can be set in a corner or in a hallway on the floor. Usually, such an accessory item can stand on its own. However, if you are inclined to add some type of floral decor, you can display a bit of nature’s finery by including an orchid, stems of a dogwood or pussy willows.

As you can see, you can find a number of ways to decorate with vases. They are practical as well as interesting accessories.
