One of the things that can make your apartment feel like a true place for entertaining is creating a bar area with the necessary bar supplies. An entertainment bar can be the centerpiece of your apartment, making it feel more like a home than a house could feel. It can be a central gathering place for your friends to hang out after work. Here are a few things to make sure that you have, before planning that bar apartment warming party. Beyond the basics of getting vodka, whiskey, wine and beer, there are some bar supplies and ingredients that are must haves.
Bar Top Necessities
You should get a couple of martini shakers for your bar. Who wants to stop and wash dishes while making drinks for friends? If you plan on entertaining often, get several. Glassware that’s bar appropriate is a necessity. You want a shot glass, a high ball glass, a rocks glass and a martini glass, for starters.
Mixers for your Apartment Bar
You’ll need to have lots of mixers at your bar, such as orange juice and sweet and sour. Look at the recipes for some favorite drinks of yours and your friends, and be sure to fill your bar with those necessities. Because many of these may have an expiration date, always check them before parties, especially juices. Vermouth is a must for making a lot of mixed drinks. Any bartender knows this. So does anybody who ever watched “Cheers.” They mentioned this many times. You’ll want to line it up with other drink additives.
Big Ticket Bar Investment
A mini refrigerator with a small freezer is a great investment to go behind your entertainment bar. There are so many things that need to stay chilled for an ideal bar (including the martini glass), and it will save he hassle of going back and forth to the kitchen fridge. You’ll also need several pourers. Pourers are what you screw onto the top of mixers and alcohol bottles for the making of mixed drinks and martinis. It ensures that the liquid doesn’t come spewing out and helps in the art of bartending. Invest in a few. Replace the lids of bottles with those while bartending, then wash them and replace the proper lids to each bottle.
Necessities for the Bar
Cocktail napkins are a must for your bar. It only looks fitting to serve drinks on a proper cocktail napkin, and it will help preserve the beauty and investment you’ve made in your bar. Straws and picks for your mixed drinks and cocktails are a must. Keep a steady supply.
You’ll also want to invest in a serving tray. If you are entertaining, you don’t want your guests to have to constantly get up to ask for refills, as if they are at a real bar. Instead, grab an elegant carrying tray that matches the decor and theme of your bar. You’ll need plenty of small things to garnish drinks with. These include onions, olives and maraschino cherries. Mint is also preferred by many bartenders, and it’s necessary if you aim to make mojitos. Be sure to add your personal favorites.
