Atlanta is becoming an ever more popular city to live in. Whether you are moving into the city for business or pleasure, it is important to find the Atlanta neighborhood that best fits you.
Live in Atlanta: Downtown Atlanta
Downtown Atlanta is a mecca for big business. Many corporations have offices and headquarters in this section of Atlanta. Because this area is so central to the city, Downtown Atlanta is littered with skyscrapers, office buildings, hotels, restaurants and shopping. Pretty much any big name, or chain you can think of is located here.
Also located in Downtown Atlanta is Turner Field, home of the Atlanta Braves, and the Georgia Dome, home of the Atlanta Falcons and the Peach Bowl. The Atlanta Hawks and the Atlanta Thrashers also play in Downtown at the Phillips Arena. If you are a sports fan, you’ll have a blast living in Downtown.
This is also the place for luxury apartment living, or if you are looking for the hustle and bustle of city life. Plus if you work in Downtown, you will have a really short commute to work. Public transportation is easily accessible, and a car is not required. If you live in Downtown Atlanta, you will always have somewhere to go and something to do.
Live in Atlanta: Midtown Atlanta
Midtown Atlanta is a bustling area too. Midtown is also home to skyscrapers, office buildings, hotels, restaurants and shopping. This is another area where a lot of big businesses are located. If you are a music nut or theater buff, however, Midtown may be your preferred choice in city living. Midtown Atlanta is home to the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the Woodruff Arts Center and the Fabulous Fox Theater.
Midtown Atlanta is also home to a tremendous amount of nightlife. There are many luxury apartments in Midtown Atlanta too, as well as converted warehouses and townhomes. This is another Atlanta neighborhood to consider if you are looking for city living, a potentially short commute, public transportation and continuously available activity.
Live in Atlanta: East Atlanta
East Atlanta is an up and coming area. Many younger families, couples and singles that can’t afford the prices of other Atlanta neighborhoods find themselves looking to rent in East Atlanta. The area, like many areas, is becoming more and more modernized and rehabilitated. Things to do include visiting the local pubs, local restaurants and local shops, but don’t think it is quiet here either. East Atlanta’s taverns are home to many band performances, and there are some great nighlife venues here too.
The section of East Atlanta near Brownwood Park is more residential, featuring a playground and new recreational center, and a great place to settle if you have kids. A car is advisable here for easy access to Downtown and Midtown, or other Atlanta neighborhoods.
Before you choose an Atlanta neighborhood to live in, do your research. Investigate the rents, public transportation and leisure activities. Some additional Atlanta neighborhoods to check out include The Highlands-an upscale, trendy-chic area, and Vinings-also an upscale, trendy area.
