Four Tips to Organize Your Linen Closet

While a linen closet may be a small area, there is no reason that it can’t stay organized. With a few tips everything will have it’s own place and easy to find.

Keep Like Things Together

If the linen closet features several shelves, be sure to keep all same items together. Have a shelf for blankets, one for sheets, etc. By grouping items together, it will make finding a specific item easier. By keeping items folded in in their place will allow extra space in the linen closet and will make it seem less cluttered.

Keep Appropriate Items in Closet

By only storing items that belong, this will also allow the closet to stay organized and not be so cramped. Towels, sheets and blankets are generally items found in a linen closet. By weeding out what doesn’t belong, there will be room allowed for what should be stored here. This will make finding the item needed so much easier.

Out with the Old

If there are towels, blankets and sheet sets that haven’t been used and likely will not be used in the future, it is time to think about getting rid of them. There is no reason to hang on to something if it will not be used. Not only does this clutter up the closet, but by donating the items, it could benefit someone else.

Add Necessary Shelving

If the linen closet has few shelves, there are options. Either purchase individual shelves or a shelf unit. The chosen option will depend on size. The individual shelves are installed with a rod in the wall and the shelf holders are placed in the rods. Set the shelf on the holders, and you have instant shelf space. Add up to three shelves on the rods, depending how spaced out the shelves are. This will help customize the linen closet, allowing ample space for all items. A shelf unit is one that has all the pieces in a box, and it is easily assembled at home. This option stands on the floor, with generally three or four shelves.

While a linen closet might be a small area, this area can stay neat and tidy. By making a place for everything and keeping everything put up in its place, the linen closet will be organized and in order.
