How to Brighten a Room with Spring Colors

There are several ways to add spring colors and brighten a room.  It is the season of beauty and color, and you can invigorate your senses by inviting Spring into your home with a few minor and inexpensive changes.

Step 1: Paint the Room

The walls of a room should be given a fresh coat of paint. Pastel shades on the walls can brighten a room considerably and give it a spring-like ambiance. Wall paintings of flowers can be hung up as well to enhance the look.

Step 2: Change Your Curtains

During winter, heavy curtains in dark color schemes are the norm. Come spring, it’s best to replace them with light fabrics such as cotton, voile and muslin. White, yellow, light pink, lavender and apple green are great colors to consider.

Step 3: Color Coordinate Your Furniture

If the furniture in the room is dark in color, slipcovers in pastel shades and brightly colored throw pillows that coordinate with the paint can brighten up the room.

Step 4: Use Fresh Flowers to Accentuate the Room

Use fresh flowers as the centerpieces for dining, center and occasional tables to bring in great scents of spring. Flower pots can be placed in corners for the same effect. A bowl of colorful fruits can also be used to add a dash of color to the room.

Step 5: Change the Table Setting

The tablecloth on your dining table should be a bright color such as yellow, green or pink and placemats should color coordinate with the room. Consider using a floral print.

Inexpensive accessories and a coat of fresh paint can help you usher in spring with minimum effort.
