How to Clean the Bedroom in 15 Short Minutes

Staff Writer · Dec 13, 2009

Keeping a clean bedroom is not difficult, but it does consist of some dedicated time each day. The bedroom is the place that you go to relax at night and get a good nights rest. When the bedroom is clean, it can actually help you to feel more comfortable and sleep more soundly. If you can take 15 minutes out of every day to clean your bedroom, you will be able to avoid the train wreck that inevitably comes when the mess builds up.

Make the Bed: 5 Minutes

The first place to start when you clean your bedroom is the bed. It may seem like a waste of time to make the bed since you are only going to mess it up again the next night, but the bed is probably the largest piece of furniture in the room and is an eyesore when it is unkempt.

Start by throwing everything off onto the floor: the pillows, sheets and comforter. Then take everything you just threw on the floor and throw it into the washing machine. After that, you can grab your next set of sheets and comforter to make your bed.

Start by slipping on the fitting sheet, then the bed sheet, then the comforter and finally after you have put the pillows cases on the pillows, you can throw those on the bed, too.

Pick-up Clutter: 5 Minutes

The next thing you will want to do is pick up any clutter on the floor, the desk, the nightstand or the entertainment center and put it back in its proper location. Clutter does not usually take long to put away and is highly noticeable upon entrance to your bedroom. You may have a nice tidy bedroom, but if it is filled with clutter, no one will ever know it.

If you can dedicate these five minutes to clutter everyday, you will be able to avoid the tragic incident where the entire room feels up with clutter and it takes a bulldozer to get it all out. Five minutes a day is a lot more reasonable than an entire Saturday dedicated to cleaning your bedroom.

Vacuum the Floor: 5 Minutes

Once you have gotten all of the objects that don’t belong up and off of the floor, you can commence to vacuum what is too small for you to pick up. Good carpet maintenance is extremely important when living in an apartment because carpet is a high expense that your landlord will expect you to pay for if it gets ruined.

The thing with carpet is that there is so much dirt build up that is impossible for the human eye to see. Of course, you will know it is there when you see your vacuum bag filled up with it. However, dirt that stays in the carpet over long periods of time inevitably gets ground up by people constantly walking over it. Sometimes the dirt can get ground so deep into the carpet that the vacuum cleaner cannot even reach it. At that point, the carpet is typically destroyed.
