Minimalism is one of many bedroom interior design ideas. If you’re looking for a very clean aesthetic in your bedroom, minimalism is the way to go. You can obtain the look by practicing restraint as you decorate. Less is more with minimalism. Want to know more? Read on for ideas and guidelines.
When you hear the word minimalism, what vision comes to mind? Chances are you envision something simple and clean, like a white room with modern furniture and sparse decor. When it comes to decorating, it’s often easiest to look to color as a first step. When opting for a minimalistic approach, keeping the color scheme simple is key. White or neutral walls are certainly an option, but not the only ones. You can still design a minimalist bedroom with a bright or bold color on the wall. In doing so, you’ll want to make the wall color the only statement piece of the room. Remember, minimalism means keeping it simple. Too much color or too many varying elements are the opposite of what you’re going for.
That being said, white and black are great neutrals to use when designing a minimalist bedroom. If you’ve painted your walls a color, consider sticking to white or black bedding and accessories. When it comes to minimalism, you can never go wrong with white.
An ornate dresser or fancy embroidered bedding are hardly considered minimalistic. Minimalism means keeping things simple and understated–anything intricate or complicated will give your bedroom the opposite effect. Clean lines and silhouettes are synonymous with minimalism. This look can be achieved with a simple platform bed and an angular bedside table or dresser. Avoid placing shelves in the room. Shelving units are primarily for display, and you want to keep the items in plain sight to a minimum. Again, remember that practicing restraint in your design-and what you decide to display-are both keys to achieving this look.
Minimalism is deliberate and organized. There is no room for clutter in your minimalist bedroom. Keeping with these ideas, design your room so that any clutter than may accumulate never comes into plain view. If you have a desk in your bedroom, for instance, don’t pile too many things on it. Keep your bedside table or nightstand clear with only a simple lamp and alarm clock.
Keep accessories to a minimum and, again, forgo any ornate items. Nick nacks don’t belong in a minimalist bedroom. Everything should have a purpose. In fact, choosing to go with a minimalistic aesthetic may mean doing some decluttering and simplifying of your belongings. Even something like placing too many pillows on your bed can look fussy. Streamline your room’s accessories.
Designing a minimalistic bedroom will take some planning and deliberation. Don’t get carried away as you begin bringing design elements together. Keep focused and edit your ideas and you’ll create a streamlined bedroom to enjoy.
