Pet Stain Removal on the Cheap

If you have a pet, you are probably all too familiar with pet stains. Pet stain removal products are abundant, but it is hard to know which ones work, and which are a waste of money. Also, it is important to know how to properly remove pet stains. Here are some cheap pet stain removal alternatives and techniques that are sure to help you out.

Pet Stain Removal With Club Soda

This is the cheapest and easiest solution to pet stain removal. Club soda is not just for drinking, and it is often a great alternative to cleaning supplies. If your pet has an accident on your carpet or furniture, clean up any solid waste. Make sure you do so without rubbing any of it in. Pour the club soda over the area. Use a rag to blot the area, but again, be sure not to rub. You may repeat the process as many times as needed. If club soda is not available, seltzer will work too.

Pet Stain Removal With Ammonia

If club soda doesn’t do the trick, the next step is to try ammonia. First, you need to dilute the ammonia. Use about 1 cup of water to every 1 tablespoon of ammonia. With a sponge, blot the area to be treated with the diluted ammonia. You may need to repeat this a few times.

Pet Stain Removal With Dish Detergent

So you’ve tried the club soda and the ammonia, but the stain is still there. The next step is to dilute some dish detergent. This does not mean dishwasher detergent, but dish detergent for hand washing dishes. Use about 4 cups of water to every 1 tablespoon of dish detergent. Mix it up, and use a sponge to blot the area. Repeat this a few times, then take some clean water, and with another sponge, blot the area with the clean water.

Pet Stain Removal With Baby Wipes

Baby wipes are another great, cheap alternative to removing pet stains – even if you don’t have a real baby. It cannot be explained, but baby wipes will take out just about any stain – that goes from soda to tomato sauce to pet stains. After removing any solid waste, simply take out a few baby wipes (use a bunch together), and blot the area to be treated. The wipes will make the area a little soapy, but there is no need to rinse; just let it dry once the stain has been removed.

After the Pet Stain Removal – Removing the Smell

Some pet stains, even after cleaned up leave an unpleasant odor. Baking soda or baby powder are great ways to remove the smell. Sprinkle either of them on the area, and let them sit for about a half an hour. Afterwards, simply vacuum up the powder, and the smell should be gone. This can be repeated if necessary.

Each of these methods is a cheap alternative to pet stain removal without the use of your usual pet stain cleaning supplies. These methods are proven to work and are budget friendly.
