When it finally starts to feel like spring, we can’t help but smile and take advantage of the warmer weather. This is especially true for those of us who live in parts of the world that experience four distinct seasons. But digging out your dresses, capris, and light jackets isn’t the only way to bring spring back into your life.
When it’s sunny and warm outside, a lot of us want to take advantage of the weather as much as possible. We think of all of the things we can do outdoors now that it’s getting warmer. But even before it’s time to start working on your garden or planning out your days by the pool, you’ll have to freshen up the inside of your home.
Here are eight simple ways to decorate for spring that won’t break the bank but will leave your home feeling fresh and cheerful!
Now that flowers are beginning to bloom outside, it’s the perfect time to start bringing a few inside as well. Nothing says spring like a bouquet of bright, colorful flowers. Think tulips, lilies, daffodils, peonies, and cherry blossoms. Purchase some from the local flower shop or gather a few gorgeous buds from your own yard!
If fresh flowers aren’t your thing, consider decorating with faux flowers. Faux flowers look incredibly real these days and can last you years. That way, you’ll be able to pull them out every spring when it comes time to freshen up the place.
Houseplants can be difficult to find during the winter months, but come spring, most stores will start bringing them out for sale so you’ll have a lot more variety to choose from.
Adding some greenery into your home is a great, simple way to decorate for spring. Mainly, it adds life to your home, which is exactly what most of us need after a long winter. But again, fake plants also look incredibly real these days, and they can provide a good alternative in rooms that don’t get a lot of sunlight.
Switching out your throw pillowcases is a super simple and quick way to decorate for spring. With just a quick switch, you can go from dark and warm wintry colors to splashes of pastel and instantly change the vibe of your space.
To save storage space, look for throw pillows whose cases can be changed out constantly. That way, you can build up a collection of pretty spring patterns and save them for years to come.
Something other people might not consider is switching out their throw blankets, too. Winter throws should be heavy and warm, but light blankets are the best choice in the spring.
Spring throw blankets should be a little bit thinner and boast bright cheerful colors and patterns that speak to you. That way, you can enjoy their overall look and still cuddle up on those cool spring nights.
Another quick way to go from winter to spring in your home is to switch your curtains. In the winter, your curtains should be heavy and thick to keep the cold out, but in the spring, they should be bright and airy.
Not only that, but it’s a simple way to add more color to your home when decorating for spring.

When you think of spring, stop to think about what it should smell like compared to the other seasons. Most people love the scent of pumpkin spice in the fall and those of cinnamon and vanilla in the winter. In the spring, you’ll want something more fruity or floral like lemon or lavender. This can be done using candles, incense, or essential oils.
Consider what your candles look like, too. My winter candles are often dark red and sparkly to match my holiday decor, whereas my spring candles are pastel-colored and sometimes have things like flowers in them. Choose whatever works best for you.
Art doesn’t need to cost a lot to have a big impact, and with all the great print options available these days, it’s easy to switch things up each season.
There are even a lot of beautiful prints online that are free to download and print at home. Alternatively, you can support independent artists by purchasing their pieces directly from them. A lot of artists offer lovely prints for relatively cheap.
You can switch out the prints inside your picture frames each season, or have different colored frames for each piece to add even more flair to your spring decor.
A lot of people have decorations set aside for every holiday, but they don’t really stop to think about how they can collect and use decorations for each season. Consider switching out your knickknacks, statement pieces, and other little decor items to go with the season. This can even include wreaths. Spring wreaths made with flowers look lovely on the front door, and they really add that special touch to your home.
This spring, try to find decorations that really play up the season, like floral patterns, pastel colors, adorable animals, bikes, succulents, and bright whites.
