You may need help here and there to clean your apartment. Some renters choose to hire help on a regular basis, but it’s not the best choice if you’re living on a tight budget. Here are some scenarios in which getting additional help may be appropriate:
When You’re Moving Out
Moving out of an apartment is a hectic process. It’s important to leave a clean apartment behind to get as much of your security deposit back as possible. You may not have time to do a thorough cleaning job before you have to move to your new location. If that’s the case, then hire someone to clean your apartment. Your landlord will charge more for cleaning if he has to hire someone and whatever he pays for a cleaning service will come out of your security deposit. At least you can control the amount you pay by hiring someone yourself.
When You’re Moving In
Most landlords deliver a clean apartment before renting apartments. There are occasions when that doesn’t happen, and you may need to start renting before the landlord has a chance to clean the apartment. Moving into an apartment is a busy time, and it might make sense to hire someone to clean the apartment for you. Unlike the moving out scenario, you should be able to negotiate a reduction of the first months rent with your landlord for paying for the service.
When You’re Having a Baby
It’s a wonderful thing when you can have the help of extended family members or friends to help you clean after the birth of a child. Doctors insist that you take it easy the first few weeks, and your spouse may have a full-time job. Waking up in the middle of the night often to take care of a baby can make the both of you tired, and cleaning is a chore that often gets pushed to the side. That’s the perfect time to hire someone to clean your apartment if you can afford it. Plan to hire someone during the first three weeks to do major cleaning, such as mopping and cleaning bath tubs.
When Your Apartment Floods
Flooding in your apartment can lead to serious health risks, because of mold spores and mildew. Apartments can flood for many reasons, such as from a nearby laundry room or from a leak in your waterbed. A cleaning service that has experience cleaning up flooded apartments can help you remove mold and dry out your apartment with specialized equipments. You could rent the equipment yourself, but those costs add up and you may not be able to do a thorough job the way a professional cleaning service can.
When You’re Hosting a Party
If you plan on inviting guests to your home for a party, and you’re short on time, a cleaning service can help. You can use the time to prepare the other aspects of the event, and impress your guests with a spotless apartment.
When you have more than enough money and the time you spend on cleaning could be better spent on other things, such as running a business, you should consider hiring someone to clean your apartment on a regular basis. If that’s not your financial situation, then save your money until you really need the help.
