Resident 2012 - 2013

3/24/2013

My year lease is coming up and I am getting ready to move out. The buildings are poorly built. The floors are uneven and there are nails that stick up from the carpet. We lose a lot of socks just from walking up the stairs. When ever we have had any maintenance issues, it can take a while for them to respond. The heating and a/c unit is on the second floor, so our apartment is never the right temp. In the winter, it is very hot upstairs and freezing downstairs. In the summer, the upstairs (where the bedroom is) cannot get very cool without having an extremely high electric bill. We had a problems with the blinds that are in the apartment. They broke twice back to back because we tried either raising them or lowering them and the maintenance guy told us that if it happened again we would have to pay for them even though they are installing cheap blinds. We had put up curtains to get around this. When the roofers came to redo our roof, they broke one of our windows. They were fast about replacing it. However, our screens got huge holes in them from falling nails, so we called the office and they didn't care. Doesn't seem like they will be fixed. The biggest problem I have with this place is that I have to pay $45 a month for basic Comcast cable. It never works. We have gone through five cable boxes in the year that we lived here. I would not mind spending the money on cable if I watched it, but I never watch it and I did not find out about the cost until after I had done the application and was signing the lease. There is nothing included in our rent. We are currently spending $715 for just rent(it would go up to $750 a month if we were staying.) Then we have to pay for water, which is about $15-20 a month, our pet fee of $20, pest of $5, and we even have to pay $1 just to pay our bill. With this and the amount we have to spend on cable, our $715 a month usually is about $805 a month. We also have to pay for sewage on our electric bill which usually comes to about $60-100 a month depending on the time of year. I would not recommend anyone to move here. You are just paying for location. If you don't mind a little extra drive, you can get a much nicer, bigger, newer apartment for less a month.
