The neighborhood itself is good. There have been zero issues with crime. Once there was a door-to-door salesman annoying everyone, but the apartment manager quickly took care of it.
The apartments aren't anything terribly special. But they're more than adequate. Size is pretty standard. The appliances are above average. My one compliant is how hot it gets in the summer, but I guess there's nothing the apartment can do about that...
Location is excellent. That's really what you're paying for with Kirby Station Apartments. You're close to Cordova/Wolfchase, Downtown/Midtown, Southaven, etc. But still far enough away to be quiet and comfortable. I work downtown and the drive is about 20-25 minutes. My wife works in midtown and it's about an 18 minute drive for her. Overall, we've very happy with the location.
The front office staff is outstanding as well. They were the initial reason for me deciding to spend a little extra to go to Kirby. I've never experienced such a helpful property manager. She did everything she could to fix a bad situation for us (our other apartment complex choice stopped returning calls after we made our deposit...).
So while the price may be a little off-putting for some, I think you'll find the extra money is definitely worth it.
