Please read before deciding to move here! This place is a NIGHTMARE!

My boyfriend and I recently decided to find our first apartment, and unfortunately came to Sutter Creek. Being in our early twenties, we are very inexperienced at looking for an apartment, and have gone through hell with this place. We were so excited to be getting such a nice apartment for so cheap. We decided that since it was our first place, we would get an original apartment vs the upgraded because it was $555 a month compared to the $660 for newer floors and appliances. When one of the girls in the office told us an apartment was coming open in early october and it was the first and only one, we decided to jump at the offer. She informed us that we could hold that apartment (original, not upgraded) by paying the deposit and the application fees. We payed them that day and ---- was to process our application the next day. I recieved a call from her the next day telling me that we were approved and immediately after we got off the phone, she called back and told me that THEY had made a mistake and because they choose to upgrade that apartment after the current tenants would be moving out that we would have to pay the upgraded price or we could get our deposit back. Well, I feel as though they are running a bait-and-switch and just getting to pay the deposit, get locked in and then raise the price. When I went to the office to talk to the manager ----, he was very rude, saying that he would not do anything to help us and they would not refund the application fees, even though we only applied to hold THAT ORIGINAL apartment. They are very unprofessional. When I asked for the corporate number, he gave me a number to a ------------- who is never available and after leaving 4 voicemails and messages over a week period, I called him to get a different number. He refused to give me any other number (which is illegal!!) I am so frustrated that I have contacted the Texas Apartment Association, the Texas Renter's Association, and I will soon be contacting Bernard/Allison Management company, the Better Business Bureau and my attorney. I am so upset over this and I hope that reading this will make you realize that if I'm having all of these problems before even moving in, and THANK GOD I didn't sign the lease, YOU will reconsider! All I will say is, BUYER BEWARE!!! Also, there has been a lot of talk to me about these apartments having many break-ins, robberies, wrecks in the lots and bug problems!
