Do NOT move here.

Moving here was a mistake from day one. My boyfriend and I leased the apt over the phone without seeing it as we lived seven hours away and I was moving up here to attend school. From day one beginning the leasing process was a mess. The office staff was unwilling to help me as I tried to complete the leasing process from another city. We gave them all the information (including pictures and medical history of our two dogs). The day we came, moving truck and all, to sign our one year lease, they told us our dogs, who had just made the seven hour trip with us, were on the restricted breed list and they would not allow them. 1) I'm not giving up my dogs for an apt. 2) They had this information for more than a month before we got here and they chose to tell us now. After deliberating, our dogs were not on the list so we moved in. When I first saw the apartment, I could not believe how stained the carpets were after they said they were steam-cleaned. The carpets are an off-white color, bad choice in the first place. I called the office and said I wanted them done again because there was no way they had been cleaned. The cleaning guy came the next day but it didn't do anything. The first two days, we had 6 wasps in our apt. I called for the maintenance to come and take down the nest as it was inside of an overhang covering the stairs next to our door. It took them two days to come and all they did was cover it with a 2X4 which made it look even worse. We've had to call maintenance a couple other times which they said they would call before they showed up (because we have dogs) and they would be there the next day. They did not however call, nor did they come the next day. A couple months later, our AC went out. Our apartment was 86 degrees for 3 days as the maintenance never came to fix it. After leaving messages on the "emergency" maintenance line, I got ahold of the office and told them the situation. The girl in the office had the audacity to tell me "It's not an emergency unless its 90 degrees or hotter in the apt" but since I had been waiting for 3 days, she would send someone to fix it. A couple months after moving in, we started seeing little roach-like bugs in our kitchen. They were everywhere in our microwave, pantry, stove, etc. I went to the office to put my name on the pest spray list and the following Monday they came and sprayed but it did nothing. I was killing at least 10 little roaches in our kitchen each day; They were everywhere and we couldn't seem to get rid of them until my boyfriends mom told us of a solution which for the most part got rid of them but there are here every now and then. Fast forward a few months...a girl got murdered two buildings down from us from a drive-by. Being in North Texas, the weather is devastatingly hot...and the pool is closed more than it's open. Memorial Day weekend, they finally opened up the pool only to have it closed after that because the water was dirty from all of the people. I called the office to see if it was open and the girl in the office said it was. I walked to the pool only to find it was locked, so I went to the front office and spoke to the girl who seemed so inconvenienced that I dare ask. She said the pool would be open the next day, which it wasn't. The management is not willing to help you and the girls in the office make it seem like a chore. I would not recommend these apartments to anyone.
