Resident 2012 - 2013

2/6/2013

I have lived in this community for about 6 months. Overall, it's an ok apartment with ok management. The staff are very friendly, but I have issues with some of their practices. One complaint I have had is that staff (maintenance or otherwise) have not always followed their own policy of leaving a notice in my apartment if they have entered it for any reason. The policy states that a notice of entry will be left in an easy to spot place. Secondly, I have had at least 2 instances while living here in which maintenance marked a work order as complete when it wasn't. One example is a leaking faucet in my bathroom. I put in a work order to have it fixed so it wouldn't drip all day. The maintenance comment showing it as resolved was simply "there's no drip", but when I got home the day they supposedly checked it, without me touching the faucet, it was still dripping every few seconds. There's no way they even looked at it. Other than maintenance (which is pretty bad... Even when they "fix" stuff, it's often not fixed correctly), I also have a problem with they way management gets their notices/reminders out. In my experience, I'm typically only give one day's notice if I need to have my cat put up or something for the pest control or fire department to come check my apartment. Additionally, I came home today to a "reminder" that I needed to remove something from the balcony. If not done before TOMORROW, I will have to pay a fee. What if I was out of town and didn't get this notice??? What if the notice blew away, since they just stick them in the door jamb? I completely disagree with this method of notifying tenants of things they want us to do. Regarding the pest control, we are required to pay a monthly fee for pest control services. However, in the 6 months I've lived here, they have only sprayed once. There's actually a huge ant pile on the side walk outside my apartment. Tenants are also required to pay for valet waste every month whether we use it or not. I have had multiple instances of putting the trash out as directed on the days the valet waste is scheduled to come, but in the morning, my trash has still been there. One thing that attracted me to this complex was the ability to pay online. However, the website where we are supposed to pay/check balances has been down for the last two months (with no real explanation from staff. I called about this and never even got a call back). I'm hardly ever home when the apartment office is open due to my work schedule and out of town commute, so this has created another inconvenience for me. And finally, the walls are paper thin, but that's to be expected in any apartment. If you want a cheap, mediocre apartment and the complaints above won't bother you, this may be the place for you. However, I'm counting down until I can move. My particular floor plan is super small and the annoyances I've detailed above have really frustrated me. The office staff is really nice and works hard to make the sale, so they do have that going for them, but management practices are not as friendly. On a positive note, I've never had trouble finding parking near my apartment and the pool is nice.
