It could be so much better!
We moved in late July 2004 and it seemed that they were very nice and caring at first. The apartments are a bit old. You can tell that people have definetly lived there before us. Wear and tear around doors, cealings, sinks, etc. We were pretty unsure if San Marin was right for us, at first. The price was a bit high but the location was perfect! I worked really close by, and Mopac is around the corner. I am not sure if thats worth it anymore? Lately I have noticed the staff is a bit rude or atleast not friendly. You ask them something and they respond in this weird uncaring tone. What happened to being sweet and friendly? Guess that only matters when you are signing the aggreement? Maintance work is usually reasonably quick, although the amount of maintance required is ridiculous. Little things keep breaking down. I know for sure we have had them in our apartment atleast 15-20 times in the past 4 months! The utility bills are also shockingly high. We asked them to have a look at our AC because the first full bill for electricty was $75 dollars. Our previous 3 apartments avg $40/month. This is definetly not acceptable, but their response was to say that they couldnt control the AC closer than 5 degrees from the setting. Our solution, turn off the AC when we are NOT home. Guess some things you have to take into your own hands. :-( Parking is just atrocious. DO NOT get home past 8pm or you will have to park atleast a 5 minute walk away. That is not so bad, but try caring groceries or something big. Noise levels are not a problem in our apartment building, but then again I believe that more than half of the apartments in our building are empty. Not sure what that says about this place. Can't keep its people here or prices are too high? I really did expect alot more from San Marin at this point. When we were searching for apartments in 2003 I really liked San Marin, but at the time they were full aparently. This year their prices were a bit higher, but I figured I'd give them a shot. I love the location and the scenary around the complex, but sadly notice how those two things do not actually have anything to do with San Marin :-(. At this point if we were renewing our lease I would NOT resign unless our rent was lowered or we could get a bigger place for the same price. Our experiences so far would not warrant us staying.

PS. Maintance in their work out gym is sad. Broken bench for atleast a month now. How long does it take to fix a damn bench? Guess with so much maintance around the complex, the gym takes a backseat :-( . Not good if you expected to avoid spending money on an outside gym.Share This Review
