Resident ā€¢ 2008 - 2009

12/7/2009

1.5 Yrs. Time to move on.

Final rating (brief): -- No issues with the management -- Happy with the maintenance staff -- I am just Unhappy with the flat -- New roofs, should help -- The appliances are old, but work fine -- Community is clean, pool gets cleaned every week. Spa -- Gym is maintained I live in the other community (4025, erstwhile San Miguel). Well I think it is older than the 3625. So before you lease, please factor this in too. Now, I have not had any major issues with the management, they have been pleasant and helpful (even the previous one). There were times when the business center & pool was closed in the day, and when I called the management in the evening, they found it hard to believe me. Well, maybe others have complained now I guess, so now, they listen or swiftly come to open it up. The appliances are old, but work fine. We had some issue with the exhaust fan over the Microwave, and they replaced the microwave. All in all, we are quite pleased with the responsiveness of the maintenance staff. Gustav rocks. But he is so over-worked, since there are a lot of issues with the apartments. When we moved in, our carpet was new, but our counter tops are really dis-colored. Bathroom tubs were not properly cleaned. Well, we've maintained it as best as possible, so now we are fairly pleased. The pool is cleaned every Monday, so thats nice. Spa is good too, but I've had instances when it did not work. I called Management next day, only to have them say "Oh Really! That's not possible". Similarly, I called to report that the exercise bixes in the gym were not working, and they said "Really, you are the first to report that.". Now I've stopped calling them, I guess they do not like to hear my voice. Or next time, I'll ask others to sign a petition and only then send it to them. The flat itself, well we like the floorplan, its spacious and better than we've seen around in other apts. We still wanted to move to 3625 when our lease expired (the balconies/patios are bigger), but seems like that part of the apts is always full, and when we expressed our desire to change flat, but there were to be no specials for us, since we were already residents. Gimme a break! Reasons to move out (the below does not affect my rating of the apt, just sharing my view): Our house is South facing, well, the obvious advantages are that we get sunlight all day, but that's the bad part too, since the house heats up really fast in summers. Also, the A/C units are just outside our master bedroom, and there is a loud noise everynight. And since our rooms gets so hot, we feel that the A/C does not cool efficiently. The management/maintenance cannot do anything about it, I guess that is something we should have looked into when we moved in. They have the security patrol during nights & had security updates by Austin Police. But hardly 10 ppl show up to such meetings. But the management tries. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.
