Resident ā€¢ 2011 - 2012

4/19/2013

I lived here from approximately (can't recall the exact dates) November 2011 to November 2012. New management took over shortly after I moved. I called at least 5 times maybe more about the baking temp of my oven, it burnt EVERYTHING! I even bought an internal thermostat and it burnt that! I finally just had to give up baking anything since the maintenance staff couldn't figure out how to repair it and I was afraid it night just burn down the kitchen eventually. One time I had to bake a cake for an event I baked it in the game room next to the leasing office. Additionally something leaked into my downstairs apartment from the apartment upstairs. My ceiling looked like a pee soaked mattress. I had to move the things out of that room to another room so they could make the repairs. All they did was paint over that nasty "dry" wall. I could still see the little pot hole marks where the mysterious yellow fluid was leaking out because they didn't replace it, they just painted over it. Occasionally I would get a whiff of whatever it was, the smell was bad but not consistent or strong. Just a faint reminder of how nasty the ceiling was under the fresh paint in my bathroom. I don't know what was going on in the building across from mine (I was in building 13 of phase 1) but I saw more police, fire and EMT called out in the last 10 months of my lease than I had seen in the other apartments that I had lived in over the span of 5 years. One night 5 cop cars, a fire truck, an ambulance, an EMT truck a and even more disturbing a "crime Scene" van and some unmarked police cars were all outside of my apartment for HOURS investigating some kind of incident in that building. It was well after midnight the last time I peeked out my window to check what was happening and at that time detectives were taking photos of the "evidence" inside of the apartment. I really hope no one was injured (or worse)over what ever happened over there but it freaked me out and made me feel really uncomfortable since I was living there alone. I emailed the office staff about the incident and asked if I should be concerned or if they had any information on what happened and they brushed me off with this response and never followed up with any further information "We are aware of the situation that occurred and are in the process of finding out what happened. We do apologize and the last thing we want is for you to feel unsafe where you live." Great thanks, I feel so much better now (sarcasm) I don't know what happened over there but their unwillingness to share what happened made me even more uncomfortable. I understand that the ceiling leak and the unidentified incident were not the fault of the leasing office however it is the way that these situations were handled that I disagree with. Oh ... and another thing, my front door was painted a "snazzy" combination of 3 blue, red and brown horizontal stripes for about 3 months while they were deciding on paint colors. I can understand that you want to test the colors but to leave the front door of my apartment like that for months is just another example of the lack of consideration around there. I was embarrassed when my mom came from out of state and I had to explain why my door was like that and why they hadn't fixed it. The only reason I could think of is that they just didn't care that it was not pleasant for the occupant. I did like the actual apartment other than the crappy oven and the stinky bathroom ceiling. I moved in with my fiance when my lease was up, if that were not an option at the time I would have found someplace else to live anyway and that is pretty good indicator of how bad that place is considering it was only 1 mile from my work. I'd rather commute then live there. Read more: http://www.apartmentratings.com/rate/TX-Austin-San-Marin-Ap
