I moved in to San Marin...

I moved in to San Marin when it was still managed by Lincoln Properties. I was a little apprehensive when Berkshire took over, and progress has been slow, but it is finally happening. I just changed units, so my old apartment was pre-upgrade and my new apartment has all of the upgrades, and the difference is great. In my old (prepped under Lincoln management) apartment, my bathtub had been resurfaced with a terrible - quality enamel paint. Every shampoo bottle I set on it made a mark, and the bottom became porous and absorbed haircolor and absorbed it so well that copious amounts of bleach only faded it slightly. The paint was white and dingy, and the countertops were also quite porous and susceptible to marking. In contrast, the countertops in my new apartment are way-nicer looking and don't stain and discolor from something like a dribble of tomato sauce. They also look more expensive, sort of a faux marble in deep tans and browns. The paint is a nice dark beige color, and it doesn't look like a mental hospital like my previous unit. Maintenance has also been much quicker lately to fix any issues that have arisen. The new parking lots are nice, but they still get full quite quickly. Thankfully, my new unit has an attached garage and any guests I have are able to park in front of my garage door, so my personal parking issues are now alleviated. The social aspect of the community leaves a little to be desired, but I appreciate the steps the management has been taking recently to change that. It would be nice if I actually was able to get to know some of my neighbors finally after living at San Marin a year and a half. The overall value of the community could improve some. The prices are a little steep for what you get, but It's a nice community and convenient to my job, so I'll stay there as long as I can afford it. I do fear an astronomical increase in rent when my lease is up, and it makes me sad to think that I'll probably have to move out of the unit I love so much in several months when I am no longer able to afford it, since I can barely afford it now. So far, so good, San Marin...keep it up.
