Terrible Experience that continued even after I moved out

I moved into MBG in late 2005. I was in a hurry to get an apartment and they had a small apt available for relatively low rent. It was a nightmare experience from the first day. Not only was the apartment still dirty, but they never came back to clean it nor do maintenance after I requested it, so I ended up doing all of it myself. Throughout my stay there, they continually "forgot" to leave notice of when they would enter my apartment, of changes in the way things were run, and once they even tried to change the day that rent was due until they found out that it was against the law. Firstly I never got the notice for the supposed 'change of rent due date' and when I went to pay my rent on the 2nd of the month, they hit me with a $75 late fee. I didn't know better at the time, so I paid it. It wasn't until right before I was going to move out that another tenant told me that they couldn't do that. I had to fight with them to get the extra $75 that I paid credited back to me. <br><br>While living there, I dealt with noise, maintence problems that were never fixed, the pool and fitness room were CONSTANTLY closed without notice, indifferent and rude office staff (that changed about 4 times during my stay there) not to mention that towards the end of my one year lease, it was no longer safe for a woman to walk around alone within the complex after 8pm.<br><br>After I moved out, I was told that I would hear about my deposit within 30 days after my move out date (by law they have to notify you of your deposit status within 30 days). More than 5 weeks passed and I heard nothing. When I called them to find out what the situation was, the woman on the phone had no idea what she was talking about. She told me that she would have to get back to me by the end of the week. She didn't. The next week, I called back and she told me that I would receive my deposit back by the end of the week. This was around the holidays, so when it didn't show up, I granted them some extra time because of possible mail confusion. Now it has been 3 weeks since I was told that it would be mailed out to me and it still has not shown up. <br><br>Some words of advice: Just walk away from MBG. It'll be a horrible renting experience for you while you're living there and it'll haunt you after you move out as well.
